I got Mario Sunshine yesterday.

That's not tragic though.

What is tragic is that I just decided I wanted to play Mario 64 to see how much things have changed and if for the better or not. Just a quick go, nothing long or anything. So all my N64 games are stacked up the top of my dark cupboard covered up by other stuff such as clothes, headphones cases all random crap. I dig through all this with boxes falling down on me and my feet nearly breaking to reach higher and Mario 64 is the last box I find out of about 30 games.

So I have the game and then proceed in putting it in. As you do with a cartridge console you haven't used in a while I blew the inside of the N64 and then the bottom of the Mario 64 cart. I put in the game, flick that on button and I'm greated with "It's-a-me! Mario" Classic.

After stretching the guys face for a while I went onto the main menu, select my game with 120 stars and KABOOM! The game just freezes on this white like screen with the little glove still viewable, just.

Nothing happened after that so I took it out, blew it a few times, wiped it with cloth, stuck it under my fan at high speed and blew air from my nostrils into it. But still, it wasn't coming back on.

I put in F-Zero X and that worked fine and now it's just on in the background on a black screen. I feel like I've lose a classic, my best loved game of all time!

So errrr how do I fix it?

Shall I slap it?

Hey, that's a pretty neat idea actually.

I wouldn't mind playign Mario 64 again AT ALL. Infact, I want to.

But, if I could just get my cart working then I could start a new game WOOPIE!

I completely forgot that the game saves are on the cart. 120 stars - that IS tragic. Good luck with the repair, Monkey.

If the unthinkable should happen and the game is unfixable, getting it off ebay is easier than you think. It takes a minute to sign up, bid on any one of the 20+ Mario 64 auctions, and you can pay via cash or cheque. You may not have 120 stars any more, but think of all the fun you will have getting them back........

Everything I've heard off people buying from Ebay has been cool but at the moment I don't do Ebay. I haven't got my own card etc etc but once I do :-D

I will get my Mario working, because this is MY Mario with MY 120 stars!

Actually, most people on ebay are cool - you just have to watch out for the odd guy trying to skank people. I only buy from sellers with good feedback and have never had a problem. If Monkey can't fix his Mario 64 cart, then he would have no probs picking up a copy off ebay.

Thanks for the suggestions.

My friend did actually come up with the cotton bud one when i first asked him. I tried it, it didn't work so I came on here to see what you lot had said and I saw it had just been suggested.

I've tried alot of what you have said but still it continues to freeze on in different places on the start menu or not start up at all :-(

I'll try again later.
