OK, I decided to empty my bank account into getting a PS2. There's a couple of games that interest me, but it's mostly going to act as a CD and DVD player.

Anyway, as a big (sucking up) thank you to SR, I'm buying from them, and I'm going for the PS2 Firepack, along with MGS2. Anyway, I have £20 going spare, so I'm going to get a budget game too... but I can't for the life of me pick one. Here's the list that SR has, as well as my opinion on them


JAK & DAXTER (PLATINUM). (RATED 96%) Don't like 3D platformers

GRAN TURISMO 3 A-SPEC (PLATINUM) (I-LINK) 90% Don't like racing games (especially the GT series)

WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (PLATINUM) 9/10 Don't like racing games

WWF SMACKDOWN 3 JUST BRING IT! (PLATINUM) (TAP) Getting SD4 when it comes out, no point in getting this

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT (PLATINUM) (TAP) I hear it's pants, but so far it's looking the most likely candidate. I loved Tekken 2 though

TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 3 (PLATINUM) 96% Number 4 is almost out, and I got VERY bored of #2 after about 10 minutes

RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA X (PLATINUM) Never been into the Res games

CRASH BANDICOOT 5: WRATH OF CORTEX PLATINUM Don't like 3D platformers

THIS IS FOOTBALL 2002 (PLATINUM) I enjoy the occasional game of Fifa, that's about it as far as football games are concerned

STAR WARS: EPISODE 1: STARFIGHTER (PLATINUM) 9/10 Hear it's pants

SSX (PLATINUM) Not really into snowboarding games

ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS (PLATINUM) No idea what this is about, but isn't there a sequel out?

TIMESPLITTERS (PLATINUM) (TAP) Hear it's good, but not great

CRAZY TAXI (PLATINUM) 8/10 Despite being a racing game, I do like the look of this

RED FACTION (PLATINUM) See Timesplitters comment

MOTO GP (PLATINUM) No

DEAD OR ALIVE 2 (PLATINUM) I hear it's good

FORMULA ONE 2001 (PLATINUM) (SONY / STUDIO 33) 8/10 Only one thing worse than a racing game, and that's an F1 racing game

ONI (PLATINUM) Terrible, played it on the PC



So what is a green monkey with a giant brain to do? I can't afford anything higher than a budget game, it's bad enough I have to go without food all next week at college so I can afford this thing

Tell me your opinions on the games, tell me what I should get, and tell me quick! I'm looking to order within the next day or so, before I spend all the money on cheap booze

JAK & DAXTER (PLATINUM). (RATED 96%) - A brilliant platformer, even when you're of the age! And the platinum rating just says "BUY ME!".

GRAN TURISMO 3 A-SPEC (PLATINUM) (I-LINK) 90% - Great racing game, but somewhat overrated in my opinion. GT mode is a challenge though, but is an irritation after a while. Anywho, it's worth

WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (PLATINUM) 9/10 - A decent alternative to GT3, but only worth getting if you love different types of racing...unless you find it cheap.

WWF SMACKDOWN 3 JUST BRING IT! (PLATINUM) (TAP) - Brilliant game, but SD4 is out soon. May as well wait for that...

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT (PLATINUM) (TAP) - It's good, but far too easy. I completed it in 10 minutes in Comet :D

TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 3 (PLATINUM) - Great game, but you may as well wait for THPS4.

RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA X (PLATINUM) - Brilliant game, and absolutely huge! Plot turns everywhere!

CRASH BANDICOOT 5: WRATH OF CORTEX PLATINUM - A new Crash game!

THIS IS FOOTBALL 2002 (PLATINUM) - Apparently a great footy game, but it might be worth waiting for WE6.

SSX (PLATINUM) - Brilliant. Nuff said. Get Tricky instead though.

ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS (PLATINUM) - Decent adventure game. Get it...and the two sequels.

TIMESPLITTERS (PLATINUM) (TAP) - Good, but the single player mode is pure cack. The sequel is out today. Get it. Now.

CRAZY TAXI (PLATINUM) 8/10 - Great arcade game, never gets boring. Get it.

RED FACTION (PLATINUM) - Excellent game in my opinion, and really long. Graphics could be better, but G-Mod more than compensates for that.

MOTO GP (PLATINUM) - Naff.

DEAD OR ALIVE 2 (PLATINUM) - Ok, but no replay value.

FORMULA ONE 2001 (PLATINUM) (SONY / STUDIO 33) - I'd never get this, I hate F1.

ONI (PLATINUM) - I have it on PC. Never really appealed to me. Avoid like the plague.

Tekken Tag. It's a laugh plus good for a being drunk game with your mates.

By the way, GTA3 and Devil May Cry are much better than MGS2. But maybe one of them's in the Firepack, whatever that is.

Skies is coming to the Gamecube, I've been waiting for it to be released on GC before I play it but it's taking too long. Not that I've actually seen the game in the shops ever, despite constantly looking for it, gah.

Get a Dreamcast. It has much better games than the PS2, and also more arcade games. And Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia. That should be enough to make the decision for you...

Just like the Cube, it has NO games that interest me. Except Halo, which is coming to the PC anyway


X-Box will be dead soon, the PS2 will last until well after the PS3 comes out, like the PS1 has

Exactly. It's probably either going to be Crazy Taxi or TTT/DOA3. I fancy a good beat 'em up, don't get any on the PC

Maybe look at getting an XBox. XBox plays DVD's and CD's, plus its got great games.
