And why?
> Bill Hicks.
To me, the *only* comedian that matters.
Couldn't agree more. Nobody comes close to Hicks. Nobody.
On a side note, almost finished the book, American Scream. Am finding myself getting quite choked up towards the end. But it has been one of the most insightful biography's I've read.
Me brother ordered that complete Hicks collection from Sacred Cow last week, even though he owns most of the CD's, he felt the need to complete his collection.
Cannot wait to see and listen to more Hicks moments.
'I love black people but man do I hate n****s' - Chris Rock
That bit is funnnay. If he was a white guy, how much trouble would he have got in over that? But as he is black, it's cool.
I also like the bit where hes saying that the only thing he knows about Africa is that its far away. 'The boat ride is so long, theres still slaves on their way here'
To me, the *only* comedian that matters.

Listen to the shows he did in '98, the ones in Manchester and Birmingham especially.
Play.com have a region 1 DVD of The Chris Rock show which sounds quite good. When I get a new TV which plays NTSC videos and DVD's, I will have to get it.
But live it is Jack Dee
John Belushi
Bill Murray
Eddie Murphy
1) Chris Rock "Do you think people in Rwanda are lactose-intolerant?"
2) Jerry Seinfeld (though not really for his stand-up material)
3) Jackie Mason
4) Bill Hicks is the man! Anyone who's ever heard of him knows this too.
5) Eddie Murphy kicks ass. "I want half, Eddie! Eddie!" His comedy show Eddie Murphy- Raw for me remains the single funniest stand-up show I've ever seen, and by an absolute mile in fact.
Don't make me choose between Hicks and Murphy.

Now I agree with his political stuff, I just find it so sycophantic when he preaches to the converted, who will laugh at anything he says. I mean, we went to protest at the construction of a new halls of residence by balfour beatty, and you should have seen the ass-kissing going on. He can be funny, but the best? Rubbish.
