This probably won't be a particularly long topic, but I just wanted to talk about the ignorance of many of the teachers that I've seen. Be it only my school, or many schools world-wide, but either way, it really hacks me off.

We have a 'policy' at our school, that says that you shouldn't answer back to teachers. I thought this was fair, and that I'd have no qualms with it, but the system is being abused by teachers to get an edge on the more troublesome members of the class. For instance, Person A is a troublemaker, and A did something wrong. The teacher told him off etc, but then he said something in his defence. The teacher simply snapped back, saying that he shouldn't argue or talk back, when all he was doing was trying to defend himself.

I really hate teachers. I'm sorry, I really do. Well, the bad ones, that is. Some of them pick favourites, picking on people whom have done nothing wrong. Others set insatiable ammounts of homework, just because they're angry about spilling some coffee earlier or having trouble with another class. Teachers have picked on me, and they've done it for no apparent reason. I'm not a loud person, and I don't normally speak out of turn, I suppose that's why they see me as an easy target, just to take their frustrations out on, and because I'm too shy to speak in my defence, or 'talk back', I feel hatred torards the teacher for a while, if not the rest of the year, because when I hold a grudge, I hold a grudge, you see. Perhaps as I get older, I'll grow more confidence to speak in my defence, because being shy really does stink.

Another thing about teachers is showing bias. Person B, their brother died last year, and she was gutted and all the rest of it as you would be. I'm all for her having sympathy and all, but the teachers really show favortism towards her. For instance, if I were to forget a homework, I'd probably get a detention or a warning, whereas she would just be told to do it when she can. She gets free cups of coffee in the staff room, and sometimes stays there, missing lessons. I used to feel sympathy, but now it gets to the point where I feel like reporting it, because it's annoying. I'm not jealpus, but a school isn't normally a place to relax, we're there to learn. Her brother died near to a year ago, she can't keep this sherade up much longer. She's unpopular, and she just wants the spotlight all the time. She's fat, and she's greedy, but greedy for the spotlight also. She has a replaced hip, and she gets some attention, but not good attention, people making names at her, and frankly, I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for people who seek attention and then get attention, but bad attention. She's now planning to get married in 2 years, gaining yet more attention, and whenever a teacher tells her to remove the ring her 'boyfriend' gave her, she never does, and the teachers don't proceed to follow it up at all.

By the last paragraph, don't think that I'm a sadist or anything, it's just incredibly frustrating.

Thanks for reading (or skimming :D)

Teachers are idiots. True. they may know shootloads of stuff about their chosen topic (e.g. History), but they don't know enough about us kids, on whom they have to impart their wisdom. AND if you complain to one of them about the way they do something you get a week of friggin detentions! And you can't tell them if you are being bullied (or whatever) because (A)They won't do jack all about it and (B)You get it ripped out of you by your 'mates'. It's all too fudged up to be true.

I reckon they should just scrap the whole 'school' thing and implant microchips in our brains at birth, which would contain knowledge of, er... everything.

Same here, they just talk all the time and behave badly, so I just sit there, bored, and work away, mostly unnoticed by the teacher, but when they wrong accuse me of something, it gets everyone in a stir because I've never had a detention and it's incredibly infuriating.

She thinks I like her, but I actually don't, and some people say that she fancies me! Ergh!

Yep, teachers are

True. The entire school system is a bunch of balls. Crowded, congested hallways, insatiable ammounts of homework and stupid teachers. Hey, what next? We can lob each other out the windows? (I can dream).

About the girl you were talking about, I've never heard of anyone being invited into the staff room for coffee because a member of their family died. Well, no matter where you go, no matter how lovely the world is, you'll always find people who abuse their power. You hear stories of police officers, who are put on trial for taking drugs, for sexual assaulting people or for abusing their power. Just recently there was the story of the police officer who has been accused of having sex in public places with strangers. Remember Dr. Shipman? I know it's a different scenario, but I'm sure you can relate them,

Anyways, with this teacher thing. I find, that if you treat teachers with respect, then you get the respect back. Makes sense, really. I used to get a lot of sympathy at my old school, because of the trouble that my brother caused, and as a result, the teachers assumed it was having a big impact on my life. Personal lifes can interfer and I can't imagion what it must be like to loose a brother.

They're very restricted on what they can actually do and because of rules, they have to use them to teach. They're not there to be nice, and they're not being paid to be nice. They're being paid to teach you and how they do it, is really dependant upon their personality. I actually consider one teacher at my school, a friend and talking to him is easy. It's all a matter of who they are, I suppose.

I think that losing someone in your family is probably one of the worst things that can happen to you, but she exploited the death of her own brother, and used it to her advantage, and she has the status of a teacher, in that she gets to drink what they drink and she gets food from the lunch hall for free (whilst we have to pay 2 or 3 pounds each day). It may seem trivial, but all these things rolled into one really niggles me. For the first few months I thought that she deserved some support, but her brother died well over a year ag, and can't be sugarcoated like this for the rest of her school life, or she's going to find it difficult when she goes out into the 'real world', where they're not all pampering her with whatever she wants.

Most teachers don't have a problem with me, and it really annoys me how the entire school system can be so bloody screwed, with the 'no talking back' policy, which is total and utter crap. It's not like any of us listen to it though. However, teachers are hardly to blame - they're just doing their job, it's the higher administrative figures which are at 'fault', in my opinion. Well, we're getting a new headmaster in September, so maybe my final years at school will be better ones, I bloody hope so!

School frustrates me. I hate to say this, but I wish I could just grab a gun and go on a killing spree (in a virtual reality game, not real life or anything, because that would be messy :D). I have real anger and aggression problems, and that sure as hell would help! :D Punching the wall skins my knuckles, you see.

Looking at it from the other point of view, there are children who need that extra support, as in the case you mentioned. Do you really know everything that is going on with this girl? Perhaps it is something more than 'just' that someone in her family has died, did you stop to consider that? There are usually good reasons why pupils miss lessons and are invited in to the staff room.

I agree about some teachers abusing their rules, I've seen it done before, but many are hard working and feel trapped by the system. The current government have designed a set of rules for teachers so that they have to make sure they are teaching in such a way and often resulting in far more paperwork than the busiest of offices have to deal with. They are told that they can't do this and that and that they have to stick to a strict set of guidelines which often undermines their teaching methods entirely.

I do know that some teachers are bad at their job and don't always get found out, but usually the headmasters and other teachers listen, so if you have a genuine problem with them and can put it to them in an adult manner, citing some of the instances, they will usually listen to you and do something about it. Don't think of all the teachers as an exclusive club, there is as much friction and rivalry in the staffroom as there is with the pupils in the classroom.

im sure you have been told before...."life's not fair" and its so true. You will find that throughout life everyone gets treated differently, you will probably see lazy people get promoted higher than you or rich people getting richer whilst your struggling. Just don't let it get you down and try hard to change things for yourself.
