Arguably the best MMOLRPG? ... only in the same sense that N'Sync or Blue are arguably the best bands in the world...
The first big hit 'graphics' based MMOLRPG was Ultima Online, by a few years too I think?

I was playing Super Mario Kart and Bomberman online via ZSNES against my brother, and later on ZBattle.net against some guy I didnt know... it was as much fun as it always used to be?
Nuff said?
You played Devil May Cry 2 have you?
'nuff said really.
The PC truly is pretty much beyond competition in terms of variety and depth when it comes to games. I own a PS2 & GC, both of which I think are very good in their own way, but the PC has much depth that it’s always going to stand head and shoulders above consoles.
The console world goes ap-shlt over something like TimeSplitter 2, which is a very good FPS, but up against Soldier of Fortune 2, MoH: Allied Assault, No one live forever 2, Unreal 2003, it simple cannot compete. Almost every type of game is available on the PC and usually looks better than any console could hope for – providing you have good hardware.
But as ever, this kind of choice, quality and eye candy comes at a price. PC gaming is darn expensive, and if you want the latest games to look good, you gotta have good hardware, and that costs money.
Simple as that. If you’ve got the cash, you won’t go far wrong. If you haven’t, then stick to consoles, where you can get a machine (PS2, GC or Xbox) and like six games for about £400 – this is the price of the new top of the range ATI 9700 Pro Graphics card.
PC gaming is high end, and it’s a fact that not everyone can afford it. However, not being able to afford it doesn’t mean you should slate it. It just gives you something to look forward to when you can.
Having said all this, I still must admit to playing a shlt load of Winning Eleven 6 on the PS2. But what do I care, I got a PC, Cube, PS2 and DC :-p
You should al be happy, so for gods skaes stop arguing.
Oh and Need For Speed is supposed to be a load of balls, i'd avoid it if I was you.

Yes, PC FPSs work best...but then, this topic was comparing the PS2 to the other consoles. It's like comparing PC racing games to PS2 ones.
And really, I think GTA3 is a harmless outlet of rage in its lowest form and, in its best, a great game. No less bloodthirsty in the main game than stuff like Soldier of Fortune, it's a bloomin' good title. Sure it has gore, and the option for senseless violence but it doesn't hurt anyone.

EverQuest? Poor? It's arguably the best MMORPG ever, certainly the first big hit. And that and The Sims are new to console gamers.

By mutiplayer I mean people sitting next to you holding pads, not online gaming. LANs can do this, I admit, but so large is the scale it's not hard to lose the fact you're playing with other people where comparitively you can play with people you know well or strangers, and instantly be joking with them, face to face.

Wrestling games are no less silly than fighting games, GTA is great and Tomb Raider...well, some people like lunatic. And don't tell me you're another person who longs for the time of Kefka and 2D FFs...*snoring*
Using a PC just for games is expensive. If you are starting from scratch, you need the PC (£500-£1000), for a start. Online games. that will be ADSL then. Tough I can't get it, and in any case I wouldn't spend £20-£30 a month on broadband subscription.
BTW, I have a phone line ext connected to my digibox.

I've got a PC but all I ever play on is my Consoles.
I never wanted to grow up anyway
PC gaming is beyond consoles, no comparison at all. It has more depth, a wider variety of games and online capability for years.
The Sims? PC has had that for what...4-5 years now? FPS are simply better on PCs. Enjoy your Timesplitters 2, I'm sure it is a good game. We'll make do with No One Lives Forever 2, Half-Life + Variants, Soldier of Fortune 2 etc etc etc.
Or, to look at it another way. You have only a console.
You want to play a real-time strategy game. Which one?
You want to play a MMORPG. Which one?
You want to play a FPS. Which one?
Besides, I've owned all the consoles at one point or other yet I still come back, time and time again,to my PC.
It's for grownups.

Timesplitters 2 may be the best FPS on the PS2, but it really is pale in comparison to the format on which such games thrive - the PC. Never forget that FPS games work best on the PC, this is just fact. And don't get me started on Grand Theft Auto - the worst series of games I've ever come across. I need not repeat myself on GTA3, which is available on PC, Pro Evo doesn't appeal, and everquest was a bit poor, and the Sims is just OLD.

Consoles are more multiplayer based? I think you need to go away and contemplate your relationship with the universe, because last time I looked, you could have MILLIONS of people playing MMORPGs, whereas the best consoles can offer is 4 or 8 player action. There's just no comparison really.
