Sorry guys, nothing to do with sql. I just need to write something without a bunch of morons seeing it.

Everyone interested in this knows who they are. People fed up with the state of Fog Chat.

We need somewhere to chat without a bunch of morons messing it up. Life and sport is being split, staff are worried that Life won't take off because it requires thoughtful topics, ala Fog Prime.

Why not combine the two? Like what Fog Prime used to be. A combination of thoughtful topics, and a few more about cats to keep people coming back. The reason why I didn't want to say was because if a huge amount of people realised it, it wouldn't work. Hell, do you think the idiots are going to bother going into the life forum? They never usually do.

Hopefully, they won't follow us. And hell, if they do, we can always move again. Hopefully, hopefully, they won't.

SR is down?? On a day I dont have to go to school! thats bang out of order..

Actually, can everyone let this topic die now? Direct people here, of course, but I don't really think anything more needs to be said, and we're only risking it further and further with every time we pop it.

Bit hard to keep track actually. I don't think a lot of people who should know do yet.

After two days heavy reading of an sql book I come into this topic armed with the knowledge to help Grix out, only to find he doesn't need help with sql at all.

Completely agree with you Insomnia. Life/sport IS being split though, better make that clear. It's going to be split pretty soon, hopefully with Life getting a new forum.

It's not a private forum, it's just to make sure that it really works, you've got to privately organise it. Get the best posters together, and working together, and it'll take off. From then on, we should be able to make sure the standard stays high. Not mass bullying, just "these are the rules of the forum". After all, what's the point of spamming in the "life" forum?

If you didn't know, SR is down tommorrow for most of the day, too. It should be up by the night.

First, Rob, please don't advertise the use of my box without asking me first.. I don't know if I could deal with the amount of traffic that would generate if we did move there (although I would be able to hit refresh rather quickly.. *grin*). I don't think anyone would really want to, either. What we've got here isn't that bad.

More on topic, I think that Life and Football should be split, and that we should take it from there and see how it goes. I'd love to see some more quality posts, especially from people who've retreated in to the shadows because they can't stand the spam:quality ratio anymore.

Gaz, I don't think that we should have a list of "allowed" people.. if people do come and make spammy, useless posts (I'm a hypocrite..) we can just let them know they're not welcome here unless they're going to behave and be thoughtful. I'm pretty sure the answer isn't to lock everyone but a select few out. That defeats the point of public discussion forums.

Life can be what we make it. (The forum, that is, although it's probably also true in the larger metaphorical sense..) I'd like to take a break from the Web forum sometimes and venture elsewhere.
