Whilst flickly through the latest Official UK Playstation 2 Magazine the other day, I came across a story:-

"OPSM2 can exclusively reveal that the GameCube's upcoming first person shooter, Die Hard: Vendetta, will appear on PS2"

Unfortunately, this is from the official magazine, so things aren't looking good for Nintendo's 'adult' exclusives. However:-

The official site, and they seem to think that the game was designed specifically for the GameCube. Both sources are official, but who should we believe?

For what it's worth, this is in the latest Official PS2 mag... word for word...

The Harder They Come
Sierra's Die Hard: Vendetta set for a PS2 release. Confirmed here first!

OPS2 can exclusively reveal that John McClane, the most unlucky cop in history, is set to debut on PS2 in the first-person shooter Dies Hard: Vendetta. A welcome return after previous outings on PSone (through various developers) the new game has already received positive reviews for its Gamecube version, which is set to be released in early December.

OPS2 first speculated that the Bits Studios-developed game would be coming to PS2 way back in March, following a visit to Paris to see Sierra's forthcoming product line-up. While demoing a 40% complete version on a Gamecube we asked a Sierra representative if the game would ever be ported to PS2. His reply was, "Yes." A PR hovering nearby then butted in with an even more categorical, "No!" This was a story enough for us.

What most impressed was the title's depth of detail. McClane had an impressive range of moves from jumping, climbing, swinging, pushing and pulling, to leaning around corners and squeezing through narrow gaps - all of which were depicted through realistic animation.

The way characters interacted with each other was convincing, too - terrorists were shown to respond differently to any number of stimuli including pain (of which there's plenty) and heat, demoed effectively when McClane set an enemy on fire. Bits is promising that the script will include plenty of McClane's trademark one-liners and cinematic cut-scenes, reminding us that Die Hard: Vendetta is, after all, based on a cracking movie series. Expect an official release date next issue. Until then, "Yippe-ki-yay, mother..." and you know the rest.

Whats the big deal, Die Hard isn't that good! Metroid Prime meanwhile will be a revolution in first person design and like Goldeneye spark a new trend...

That aint going anywhere.

Well the article did state it would be ported EVENTUALLY, but the official date is unknown and probably far off. Chances are, this means they were using GameCube screenshots in the magazine.

So what? We still get to play it don't we? :)
And at-leats it won't be yet another PS2 port like Agent Under Fire and ISS 2. That can't be bad! :)

But if this is a GameCube-port over to the PS2, SONY fans are in for a treat - possibly...

Im not that suprised as many of the screen shots dont have the same in ya face look, it all looks like a PS2 game so itsmore or less a port to GC.

Or maybe that was pics for the PS2 version and both will be getting a game but the GC will be better time will tell.

of course a PS2 mag is going to say that, they say "ah yes, next year you'll see the best Mario game EVER on the PS2" that way people buy it then a year later they go "SCREW you you idiots, hahaha, you believed us"

I didn't think it was Gamecube exclusive in the first place, I thought it was coming out on PS2 a while after it was released on Cube.

There's a ltiile word that they used. "may" it "may" find it's way to PS2. Nothing has been confirmed, it's just that the PS2 owners are angry because they aren't getting a great game on their 'console'.

Ah well. The official site states it was developed exclusively for Nintendo GameCube, so if it's ported to PS2, it probably won't be as good. I'm just hoping it won't see an X-Box release.
