"Metal Gear Solid 2? What a joke!!"

When I saw MGS2 from the opening scenes it looked good. Good graphics and music that set the mood. But do you call that a game!? how is 3 hours of cutscenes and codec messages, and an hour of playing, a game? The playing is good but not what I expected, reading all the reviews. I overall think MGS2 was a disappointment. Is this what we expected?

3 hours of cutscenes + 1 hour of gameplay. So how the hell did it take me over 21 hours to complete?

I thought at first the length of the cut scenes and codec messages went on for far too long and were perhaps a bit off putting!! However once you start getting more into the game you begin to aprecciate the beauty of it!!
I havent got to the end yet but already Ive played enough to relise its one of the best games ever made - Its that damn good!!

Short as it may be (didn't bother me none), I think I've already put more play time into MGS2 than I have almost all my other games (except GTA3 and THPS3).

If I can play happily for 4 hours on the tanker - the level I have two demos of - then this game MUST have serious replay value. I'm about to embark on my second jaunt through the plant and I'm quite looking forward to knowing were I'm going and finding things I didn't see the first time.

I have read lots of reviews and have also read lots of posts here from people who have played the game. 1 Hour - what planet are you on ??

Yes the game can be short but there is obviously lots or replay value in there. I have only just got GTA3 and am playing through that, once I have finished it (Or got as far as I can !) I will be buying MGS2 and I know that I will get planty of Gameplay time out of it.

Actually, I completely agree with the topic- MGS2 became a massive joke towards the end...

Although it undoubtedly has got some great conematic effects and scenes, the game is riddled with some massive problems.

The cut-scenes are very over used- Kojima-san has taken idea of using cut-scenes to advance the game too far... now you are simply playing the game to get new cut scenes.

The plot of the game begins exceptionally well- with great twists and turns. But once you get to the end and how we should pass on our feelings and knowledge to our children, you realise the whole thing has turned into a second rate B-movie that Ch5 would play at midday.



However, ignoring these major faults in the game, it must be said that it is a masterpiece. The gameplay itself is brilliant, and the way you are led though it is refreshingly non-linear.

has this guy actually played MGS2 because i am laughing my head off here! 1 hr, no mate sorry try 15 hrs plus all reply value! Everyone has seen the opening scene so that does not prove everything! There is 5 hrs plus of cut-scenes not 3 and i enjoyed them all! How in anyones name do you get to know the story without codec! The cut-scenes are a master piece and without them you can't get to know the story! This guy has just copied what a "FEW" people said about MGS2 and has probably never played it through once! The game is a masterpiece that without playing through the story is pointless! Mate just get the game and stop posting pointless arguments when you have no evidence at all!

I can't think of much that was dissapointing with MGS2, maybe the delay and seeing Raiden butt naked *shudders* but otherwise it lived up to the hype and then some.
