£300 is a standard price for a new console.
The PSX and PS2 BOTH launched at £300, as the XBox has done.
The XBox offers more (hardware wise) than both of these other consoles, yet people are still complaining about the price.
How does that work?
If you think it's too much, here's a tip:
DON'T BUY ONE.
It really is that simple.
Or perhaps you can see what a great console it is, and are just annoyed you can't afford one of your own? Just a thought...
The best one I have is a dreamcast (fastest anyway) which in my opinion is a cracking console dispite what people say.
Will probably wait a year or so before I decide what I want. Xbox looks the winner to me at the moment though. Saw Sega GT 2003 or whatever it will be called. It looked very nice indeed!
Or could it be in NOM or Cube?
If you are, turn to page 14 and read 'the price is right. probably...' and you'll see that like the GBA, retailers may increase the price of GC to increase their profit margins
hope that helps mate

I got that... where does it say the prices?
The PS2 was £300 because it's very technologically advanced, moreso than the Xbox and GameCube - they just have bigger processors because they came out later.
Also, when the PS2 came out it was the only new console for years. People could spend that money. Now the Xbox has coe out, but you can pick up a PS2 for £200 and a GameCube shortly for £169. The Xbox costs the same as the PS2 did, but can be billed as more expensive.
Furthermore, the Xbox games cost £45, unlike PS2 ones and you need to spend £20-ish on a DVD kit to get it to even play DVDs. Sure, you have to buy a remote for the PS2, but it's not essential.

I think it's too much, and I wouldn't buy it, but...
Halo.
