I have terretrial TV only so I haven't seen as many episodes as many of you have here of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I have to admit, last night's episode on BBC 2 was the best I've ever seen!

I was suprised atfirst by it's introduction. "Previously on Bufy the Vampire Slayer....." It showed what looked like one frame from every episode since the very beginning! That certainly grasped my attention!

It then seemed to continue as if there was no gap between this and last weeks episode. It was straight into the action, straight into the plot, and made no time wasting efforts to try and lengthen the series by another episode.

The storyline itself seems to have gone like this up til yesterday. Some race of demon monks had created a sister for Buffy, calling her "The Key". Dawn, Buffy's sister, plays an important role in the opening of an inter-dimensional (or should that be inter-DEMONtional) hole in which Hell-like demons can walk the world and basically destroy it!

Meanwhile, a banished god called Glorificus was forced to share a body with a human, atfirst without the young male's knowing. Glory, as she calls herself, wants to open this rift so that she can conquer the other dimension and then exact revenge onto those who banished her. However, in doing so, the normal dimension will be caught in the crossfire, basically being slowly turned into darkness, until all natural life has been wiped out on Earth.

Glory manages to find out what, or even who the key is, and manages to capture her, rendering Buffy useless, whilst sucking the brain of Willow's partner Tara. Buffy soon recovers with the help of Willow's wiccan powers, and soon after learns that the only way to stop Glorificus for good is to destroy the key.

Anyway, yesterday's episode made me feel sympathy for Buffy, and made me laugh in the many humerous parts, like when Xander and Anya were making love instead of finding a weapon called the Daigon Sphere; Glory thinking she's just killed Buffy finding out that she smashed the head off a robot; Glory thinking she's winning saying "Now you've lost your weapon what are you gonna hit me with now?" and a giant wreckin' ball flies through the wall knocking her for 6; Spike looks up to see if he can get through the group of demons and humans blocking the way to freeing Dawn, but ends up having a brick being thrown at his head. It was just so funny!

I also felt excited and full of adrenaline as if I was part of the action myself! Not one episode of any other program or film has made me feel this way! I was actually shaking in the legs and had to try and control myself! I thought it was all brilliantly done!

The episode was jam packed with tonnes of action, jokes, and dramatics but the best bit was the conclusion to the episode, and the last few series'. Buffy sacraficed herself for her sister (who wasn't really her sister, but Buffy knew it), to close the rift between dimensions. I felt really emotional and if, like me, you haven't got Sky, cable or digital, you could be forgiven for thinking it was the last episode ever!

Buffy made a speech whilst showing the mourning Willow, Tara, Anya, Xander, Giles and even Spike watching over her dead body trying to comfort each other. Suprisingly, Buffy didn't call Spike for reinfocements in this battle, and Cordellia wasn't even mentioned, despite those two characters having leading roles in sister-show Angel. However, the show finished showing Buffy's grave stone, but the BBC voiceover had to spoil it by saying "well that's the end of season 1" which indicates Buffy will be back.

Of course I knew she would be coming back, after hearing the news from friends ages ago that she gets resurrected, but I think BBC could have waited til the end theme had finished and people had switched over to Eastenders on the other channel.

Anyway, as I said, this episode is the best ever so far, and I hope I will be as delighted to see another original storyline with a climatic ending in the next series when it is shown.

Now all I've got to do is wait for series 2 of Angel to arrive on Channel 4...

Best Episode ever has to be the season 4 one where Faith returned to Sunnydale after waking from her coma, the finale with Angel fighting her (it crossed with the Angel series) and Faith wanted Angel to kill her. I thought the whole "lets kill buffy at end of season 5" thing was so stupid, especially seeing as Whedon seems unable to control the rather massive leaks of information from the show......did anyone watch her jump into the portal thing and not know what would happen in the next series.....*yawn*

Luckily, and god knows how, X Files is back in gear after a brilliant season 8 (death of Mulder, thats how you kill and return a main character, i.e. it actually has some meaning and lasts for more than an episode.....) got the show back on track, heres looking forward to season 9.

I agree wit hthe previous comment about season 5, it sucked, and so does this new season :( It's like Dawsons Creek with vampires sometimes, which is a pity as I've followed the show since it began in the US.

The best episode ever? No! That episode was cliched and awful! The best episodes ever were in series 4, without a doubt. Series 5 has been terrible.

I saw on an advert on Sky 1 how they bring her back....but I'm not going to spoil it for anyone and I don't know exactly how and if it works ok.

I found it a little bit of a coincidence when on Buffy's grave-stone it showed her full name: Buffy ANNE SUMMERS...

Do you think there's some loose advertising from a certain trade you wouldn't want to be seen carrying a loyalty card from?

Well her name is Glory, but her minions are merely sucking up to her by calling her Glorificus.

Buffy totally blew me away! I totally agree, that episode was the greatest. It had everything, humour, drama, action, romance and ultimately tragedy. You weren't alone in feeling as though you were there, it was amazing. Just seeing Spike in tears at the end made me for the first time really feel sorry for him. It was obvious that Buffy was somehow going to get hurt when she said that her Dawn were the same person and it all makes sense now. It also finally cleared up the question of how death was Buffy's gift.

When the Scooby Gang was getting ready, I had a strange feeling that either Angel or Riley would show up again, somehow it would have seemed quite fitting for the final showdown.

Xander's proposal to Anya came as a complete surprise and was really cool. I never used to be able to stand Anya but since her and Xander got together, she's easily become one my favourite characters, especially when she comes across human things that she doesn't quite understand properly.

Spike's another one that's really grown on me this series. The way he has fallen for Buffy and his subsequent protection of her and her family at all costs has really helped his character progress and show the more human side that he has these days

In the end though, it all comes down to Buffy's death. Its going to be very interesting to see how she comes back for the next series. Earlier in this series, just after Joyce had died, Dawn asked Willow to perform some kind of spell to bring her back, but it would have been too dangerous. I'm just wondering if maybe she would try it for Buffy, to bring her back from the dead.

Also, since Buffy has died again, does that mean that another Slayer will come along? That'll mean there's now 3 on the go!

Its just dawned on me that its repeated again tonight. Sweet!!

Remember, blood is life.
