I was suprised atfirst by it's introduction. "Previously on Bufy the Vampire Slayer....." It showed what looked like one frame from every episode since the very beginning! That certainly grasped my attention!
It then seemed to continue as if there was no gap between this and last weeks episode. It was straight into the action, straight into the plot, and made no time wasting efforts to try and lengthen the series by another episode.
The storyline itself seems to have gone like this up til yesterday. Some race of demon monks had created a sister for Buffy, calling her "The Key". Dawn, Buffy's sister, plays an important role in the opening of an inter-dimensional (or should that be inter-DEMONtional) hole in which Hell-like demons can walk the world and basically destroy it!
Meanwhile, a banished god called Glorificus was forced to share a body with a human, atfirst without the young male's knowing. Glory, as she calls herself, wants to open this rift so that she can conquer the other dimension and then exact revenge onto those who banished her. However, in doing so, the normal dimension will be caught in the crossfire, basically being slowly turned into darkness, until all natural life has been wiped out on Earth.
Glory manages to find out what, or even who the key is, and manages to capture her, rendering Buffy useless, whilst sucking the brain of Willow's partner Tara. Buffy soon recovers with the help of Willow's wiccan powers, and soon after learns that the only way to stop Glorificus for good is to destroy the key.
Anyway, yesterday's episode made me feel sympathy for Buffy, and made me laugh in the many humerous parts, like when Xander and Anya were making love instead of finding a weapon called the Daigon Sphere; Glory thinking she's just killed Buffy finding out that she smashed the head off a robot; Glory thinking she's winning saying "Now you've lost your weapon what are you gonna hit me with now?" and a giant wreckin' ball flies through the wall knocking her for 6; Spike looks up to see if he can get through the group of demons and humans blocking the way to freeing Dawn, but ends up having a brick being thrown at his head. It was just so funny!
I also felt excited and full of adrenaline as if I was part of the action myself! Not one episode of any other program or film has made me feel this way! I was actually shaking in the legs and had to try and control myself! I thought it was all brilliantly done!
The episode was jam packed with tonnes of action, jokes, and dramatics but the best bit was the conclusion to the episode, and the last few series'. Buffy sacraficed herself for her sister (who wasn't really her sister, but Buffy knew it), to close the rift between dimensions. I felt really emotional and if, like me, you haven't got Sky, cable or digital, you could be forgiven for thinking it was the last episode ever!
Buffy made a speech whilst showing the mourning Willow, Tara, Anya, Xander, Giles and even Spike watching over her dead body trying to comfort each other. Suprisingly, Buffy didn't call Spike for reinfocements in this battle, and Cordellia wasn't even mentioned, despite those two characters having leading roles in sister-show Angel. However, the show finished showing Buffy's grave stone, but the BBC voiceover had to spoil it by saying "well that's the end of season 1" which indicates Buffy will be back.
Of course I knew she would be coming back, after hearing the news from friends ages ago that she gets resurrected, but I think BBC could have waited til the end theme had finished and people had switched over to Eastenders on the other channel.
Anyway, as I said, this episode is the best ever so far, and I hope I will be as delighted to see another original storyline with a climatic ending in the next series when it is shown.
Now all I've got to do is wait for series 2 of Angel to arrive on Channel 4...

You are a guy no?
The slayer can only be a girl......so..buh?
> Meh....seen it all before on Sky.
And it only gets better from here!! :D
erm.... not really!
I'm a HUGE Buffy fan, but I must say that overall I'm quite disappointed with season 6!
There's hardly any fighting of deamons n stuff anymore!
It's kinda turned into a sitcom now, which is a real shame cos I LUV the show!
The music ep is one of my all time fav eps tho, and the latest ep I saw "15" was actually pretty good compared to the rest of the series so far. I just hope that it stays this way till the end!
:)
