Ratchet and Clank has moved the goal posts in terms of platform games and left Mario Rainyday in its shadow.
It would appear the once king of platformers is just to long in the tooth don't take my word for it the general trend of decreased GC sales and the fact it is now firmly 3rd in the Next Gen war only goes to prove this point.
Resident Evil has hardly been a raving success and neither has Mario Sunshine only managed 1 or 2 weeks at the top.
With games like The Getaway, GTA Vice City and Ratchet and Clank Nintendo can no longer claim to have the best games then again you could say that was obvious to everyone but Ninty fanboys for a long time.
Sequels. Why can Nintendo get away with revamping the same stuff for decades like Mario, while PS2 games like GT3 and GTA-VC gets bashed for "being the almost identical to the old version".

No, I shouldn't care. I'm still a SEGA fan, and SEGA's decision to go third party meant that I still get to enjoy their games, even if they're not on a SEGA console. If Nintendo do end up developing games for other consoles, I won't stop liking or playing their games. In fact, I'll be able to play a wider range of games, if you think about it.
And the X-Box and Gamecube haven't even been out for a year, and you're already talking about an X-Box 2 or a Gamecube 2. Why don't you cut down on the sugar there, Sparky, and play on what you've got?

You really are a biased little idiot aren't you?
I wish Special Reserve would ban your sorry ar$e.
I've played Jak and Daxter and as it good as it is, it really is no Mario, you'd be better off comparing it to Banjo Kazooie. You obviously haven't played any of these games so I suggest you get your facts right next time.
Oh and for your info, Metroid Prime got 9.8 on IGN, I see not a single PS2 game with a score like that. Does that mean Gamecube has better games than PS2? no it's all opinions, now get a life and stop annoying people.
The reason being that if you really like Ninty so much start worrying if Nintendo were considering not producing a GC2 before the scandal and drop in Sales what will happen now.
In the future you might have to eat humble pie because I can see Nintendo going the same way as Sega and producing software only for a Xbox2 and PS3 that is why you should care.

I am sticking to the PS2 because it has the best games.
what's your excuse for sticking to the GC because it certainly ain't the above.

I'm a Nintendo fan, but I won't say anything against Ratchet & Clank until I actually get the chance to play it. I saw some footage of it on Cybernet a few months back, and it did look pretty good.
To be honest, I like my Gamecube, but I think the loss of Rare to Microsoft *could* in the long run turn out to be a bigger blow for Nintendo than most people expect.
There have ben many hate-filled e-mail's to Rare (detailed in another thread in the Nintendo forum), but the fact is - good games are good games, and once the fury dies down, how long will it be before those who worship(ped) Rare will buy an Xbox for their games?
But I do agree with what you say - there are now a number of good platformers on PS2, and until fairly recently, that was one of Nintendo's strongholds, which is now being challenged.
But much as it pains me to say it, there will always be those Nintendo fans who will rubbish the likes of Ratchet & Clank simply because "it hasn't got Mario in it".
If Gamecube isn't selling as well as the other consoles, then so what? I certainly don't care. If you're sticking with your PS2 simply because it sells more, then you really are just sad.
Tsk!
O no, I can hear the mob getting closer. Run, RUN!
