Okay, my Mum was telling me today about a friend at work whose son's 18th birthday is today. Now the son in question asked his parents for a PS2 and so the dad and the other son went out to price things up...

In a well known high street store they saw that the X-box was being released on the son's birthday so instead of getting the requested PS2 they ordered an X-box and got it today. I Don't know how he responded but my question is how would you? Imagine you're unwrapping the PS2-shaped box (I know the X-box in its box is probably the size of Lithuania but use your imagination dammit!) and you discover the neon green X... good? bad? indifferent? The decision is yours...

(The rest of the thing my Mum was telling me involves hiding the receit so he wouldn't find it and then losing it and blah blah blah.)

I wouldn't act like a spoilt git, swallow my pride (if there was any present in my mouth at that moment) and just gracefully accept the X Box. I'd be delighted to be able to play likes of Amped, Fusion Frenzy, Halo, Raw and loads of other cool games. After all, it's about the quality of the games, not the controller or the size of anything such as the console itself.

If I had specifically requested a PS2, then I'd be more than a little miffed.

If he asked for a PS2, there must be a reason for it - maybe he wanted to play MGS2, for example - otherwise, he'd have asked for "a games console" surely? So that's what they should have bought.

I would wonder how a shop assitant could mix up the PS2 and x-box.

I'd take it really well, its not like your're opening the wrapping paper off and getting an Atari Jaguar, your getting the most powerful console out

even though the x-box is pretty damn cack, it's still better than the half-arsed PS2 so I reckon he'd be pretty pleased, me? i would just smile politely, say thank you and then trade it in for a gamecube :D
