What is FairPlay? FairPlay is a campaign that was started by a handful of individuals who think the prices of games are artificially high. They are made up of journalists and former developers who have a deep argument for why they think games are ovally inflated. Their first aim is to get their campaign noticed by staging a one week protest from the 1st December to the 8th and is asking that everyone doesn't buy a game within this week. -FAIR PLAY-
*ACTION FOR CHEAPER GAMES*
If everyone stopped buying from the shops and realised that there are cheaper places online then the shops would suffer and be forced to put their prices down......why doesn't anyone see this....it's just so bloody obvious, yet you continue to go to EB or GAME or HMV or Virgin etc etc and pay their rediculous prices.
Perhaps I should post that on that site?
Oh, and the person who said that games are alot cheaper today than they were a few years back needs to look at the fuller picture. Considering games were 69.99 back then, the market wasn't all that big because of it. And now that games have been slightly reduced in price the market has grown somewhat. But the key point is, games are still at a 'lower high-price', and I think more could be done to stop us, or most of us with little money, being ripped off. I think it would be fair if the highest price a game could be priced at was 25 pound. But that's just based on my budget.
If the marketing costs and production costs were legitiment, games wouldn't be charged at a unified price across the UK (which is called price fixing!!!). "39.99 from this shop here, 39.99 from that shop 20 metres away, and 39.99 from that shop accross the road. Nice.
But not all shops are in with the price racketing. Gameplay is totally competative and so are dozens of other retail and online shops. So the bottom line is shop around. (Or sign that petition to stop the price fixing that goes on in some shops!)
Ooh, I look stupid.
The whole thing is utter toss. period.
I'm seriously considering not buying any games UNTIL this week, and then purchasing 4 of them.
And I'm not just saying that because I work for a games company, either.
Oh and the price of game has never bothered me since I went out and got a job, if I pay £40 for a game which keeps me entertained for at least a week, then that's money well spent in my opinion.
