Yes thats what I mean.
Yeah Uni can be annoying, have some Uni work I have to get done today and I still want to play on Vice City and XBox Live.

Someone earlier said something about why I've paid £20 for cable, well the problem I have is that all the local computer stores, with the exception of the one in Long Eaton, went the way of the dinosaurs about ten years ago...coupled with the fact that at the moment my time is spread between work, uni, uni work, and about 1-2 hours free at night !

Thanks ! I know I can use ICS with Tiscali - terms and conditions say you can use the connection however you like as long as you don't exceed a massive data transfer level, something in GB's anyway !
I've been scouring the internet looking for different ways of connecting, specially when I found out how much routers were...to be honest there is very little on the net about connecting to Xbox Live, which is a pain. I don't mind having the PC on for it to work, Xbox is like 5 meters away so it's perfect. Cheers for this :)

Just use your USB modem to connect to XBox Live. It is really simple to use and you wont have to spend a load on a Router/Modem. All you need is a Network card in the back of your PC, they cost £10 for a 10/100mb card. Also spend a £5 or so on some Crossover cable maybe 10m or 20m depending on how far XBox is away from the PC. Then just connect the lead into the XBox a PC, make sure your internet connect has ICS(Internet Connection Sharing) turn on, this is usually found in the properties of the internet connection. This is what I use to connect to XBox Live and it works perfectly. Only takes a minute to plug the lead into the XBox and PC, the only downfall is that you need to have your PC on while playing XBox Live.

Thanks, when you sign up you can get a USB modem quite cheap so I'm getting that first, then when I have the money I'll get a router or a modem with an ethernet port - whichever is cheaper. It's really a pain I couldn't use NTL whee you do get an ethernet port modem thing, but anyway, I'll get my boradband going first and then look at getting on Xbox live - my budget's limited at the moment - in 2 weeks I've spent about£400 on an Xbox an stuff, and another £65 on this, plus £20 for the 20 metres (!) of cable I need !
