"Are there too many forums?"

It's my impression that there are too many forums. Lately I've been posting in the FOG Chat and also in the Life and the Universe forum. I really prefer to have one favourite forum for my cryptic and biased opinions.

Does anybody have a view on this?

We're not, but it's worth throwing the subject open to consideration from time to time.

I think the first step would be to merge one forum from two for "Game Ideas and Amusing Stories", or possibly move them both into FOG Prime. It depends if "The Future of Gaming (Prime Topics, Ideas & Stories)" will fit as a heading. The latter would be a good forum in my view.

I also think that Xbox should have its own forum and the PC Gaming forum is a prime candidate to merge into a renamed "PC Games, Hardware, Software and Internet" forum.

These steps alone would reduce the number of forums by three.

I think it's a good suggestion to combine WWE with Sport under a heading Sport, Football and WWE. This would lift these subjects up the ladder before they end up in obscurity.

I think the forums are fine the way they are. There certainly are not too many forums - it's difficult enough keeping up with what's going in any forum now. If you delete one the rest will become even more crowded.

If you merge WWE with Sport I'll never forgive you :)

I suggest you actually go and look to answer that question. Y'see, about a third of the stuff is SRW. The rest is WWE.

Have the WHOLE SRW forum as a bridge to the Sport forum, not an SRW, WWE and Sport forum.

The way I see it, unless the amount of forums is slowing down the server, just keep things as they are...

Bah! Stories gets used, it gets used for all the good stories and is a great place to find a lot of the good stuff written a while ago. The FOG Stories have been in there and the new one will as well, so it's easier to find them later for posterity.
