I have changed my mind. I don't often do. However, recent events have shown me some light. Sony aren't that bad a company, sure, they use their synergies and completely over advertise the market. They maybe even guilty of premature releases, and just wanting (like any company really) to earn a solid profit.
Sony. They, are now the good guys. Microsoft. They, are now the permanently disgusting bad guys. Why? Why couldn't they leave the gaming market alone? What do they think they are doing?
Remember that court case? Yeap. That Microsoft, 'split up or melt down' one. Well, they were scared, Bill soiled every pair of boxers that month because of that case, this was when they knew they had to move dominance. What could they have? Excellent. The console world, the profit centre of the industries bar films.
With this, and Bill's stains, they decided to make a console, centered around the shape of the reviews they get back from every decent magazine on their operating system.
It was not long before it was made, released and marketed as 'the best of the consoles'.
ITS NOT.
Reasons... well my list wouldn't end, and no these would not be 'its crap' or 'Nintendo rule' arguments. I would basically review the XBox just like most american 'decent' magazines.
'Its a low end market PC, without the screen, but more expensive'.
That is the er-box. We don't need it. Because we have Sony and Nintendo.
I just pray with all my gaming soul. That the GameCube is a success, it has to be, for gaming to get better for us all.
This is my honest and 'fair' opinion. Yet again the XBox crashed on me today.
'WELCOME TO WINDOWS. WELCOME TO XLAND. WELCOME TO HELL'.
:(
> er-no he wouldnt xbox sucks#
Very true - i hate that monopolising idiot Gill Bates!
i would have thought a notable like yyou would take a slightly better approach than the 'anything made by Microsoft is rubbish' point of view...
The knock on effect has also imporved the software linup of gamecube and i would think had a big influence on the fact that nintendo is launching gamecube with the biggest ever nintendo software lineup, and apart from waverace they all look like quality.
Iam a xbox supporter, but hope that Nintendo do well with gamecube as i by far prefer Nintendo to Sony.
I intend to eventually buy all three, but those who only buy one console will prob get a ps2, leaving xbox and gamecube as close contenters for second place in this console war
Competition is everything.
What if we only had Skoda's and Lada's as the only choice for cars, because, well, why do you need more choice? What if we could only musicaly choose between Britney or Enrique Iglesias??? What if we only had PCs and Unix machines, but not Macs, that would really screw the designers' up!
My point is, whether you like it or not, the Xbox is going to stimulate the gameing market and help lift it out of the doldrums. The Xbox will take the image of gaming beyond what the original Playstation did, because the PS2 sure as hell aint' doing that.
As for Nintendo, they are not a games company, you think they are, but they are not. They own brands, they own Mario and Pokemon, from these they sell cartoons and films, duvet covers and Pokemon shaped breakfast cereal, mmmm, crispy... They own the Gameboy brand, the most successfull console, ever.
Nintendo are not stupid enough to be drawn into a hardware focused war, they can lose lots of money on hardware, and still rake it in from the merchandising.
Bill Gates is not Satan. I know it's fashionable to hate him, but he's just building on his business, we all know this is about a set-top box in disguise, that's what Sony and MS will be fighting for, who has control over the family living room. Nintendo will carry on as usual, in the background, making money from the brands that they build.
> God damn...
What?
