Go on, put some lyrics down you like.
Doesn't have to be a whole song, can just be a line or two, whatever speaks to you personally.
Don't worry if anyone laughs or sneers at the band you choose, that's their problem, not yours.
I'll start:

-------
“Can’t Bring me Down” – Suicidal Tendencies

What the hell's going on around here?
First off let's take it from the start
Straight out can't change what's in my heart
No one can tear my beliefs apart,
You ain’t never seen no one like me
Prevail regardless what the cost might be
Power flows inside of me
You can't bring me
Never fall as long as I try
Refuse to be part of your lie
Even if it means I die

You can't bring me down
Who the hell you calling crazy?
You wouldn't know what crazy was if Charles Manson
...was eating Fruit Loops on your front porch

Time out let's get something clear
I speak more truth than you want to hear
Scapegoat to cover up your fear, you can't bring me
You ain’t never seen so much might
Fight for what I know is right
What up you got yourself a fight
You can't bring me
Stand up we'll all sing along
Together ain’t nothin' as strong
Won't quit we ain’t in the wrong

You can't bring me down

Just cause you don't understand what's going on
Don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it,
Don't mean it aint no good
And let me tell you something
Before you go taking a walk in my world,
You better take a look at the real world
Cause this aint no Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
Can you say "feel like sh-t?"
Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like sh-t
I aint happy about it
But I'd rather feel like sh-t
Than be full of sh-t

And if I offended you?
Oh I'm sorry
But maybe you needed to be offended
But here's my apology and one more thing
F--- you
Cause you can't bring me down

Leonard Cohen:

"Ring the bells that can still ring,
Forget your perfect offering,
There is a crack in everyrthing,
That's how the light gets in."

And about any other L. Cohen lyric ever. And Suicidal Tendancies rocked. I'd forgotten about them.

Ooberman "Shorley Wall".

I think it's a beautiful song, but just reading the lyrics doesn't *really* do it justice. Try and download it somewhere if you can.

"No tears from a summer cloud, till off the shore the stars come rolling out
As the voices fade, tired of bad advice she whispers:
Ooh, watch the moon, can't you see? This is me.

Chorus: Shorley Wall, she's selling seashells up on Shorley Wall
Where the ocean swells and leaves you small
She's selling seashells up on Shorley Wall
Just watch the moon rise up on Shorley Wall,
Who could ask for more?

If life is an open book she'd rather read the pictures for a while
Let the b@st@rds moan, cause where she falls she falls and she says:
Ooh, give me time, I need to find who I am inside.

- CHORUS -

Dancing crabs: `Can you see the moonlight like a chandelier across the ocean where the mermaids sing? Take your shoes off...'

King Neptune: `...And step into the ocean on the path of light!'

Like a broken arrow, I'll catch the tail wind
Burning sugar, as black as smoke
Closing walls;
I open my heart, she sings when she hurts,
It's good to sink deep inside, to my final touchstone
She's a friend in the dark, my strengths, my memories,
She delights in torture, but she never shields me,
Because the best shield is to accept the pain
And then what can really destroy me?
Let me close my eyes and lie invisible,
And perhaps the clouds will pass through me."

Let's see if anyone knows where this comes from:

"Don't damn me
When I speak a piece of my mind
'Cause silence isn't golden
When I'm holding it inside
'Cause I've been where I have been
An I've seen what I have seen
I put the pen to the paper
'Cause it's all a part of me

Be it a song or casual conversation
To hold my tongue speaks
Of quiet reservations
Your words once heard
They can place you in a faction
My words may disturb
But at least there's a reaction"

'Needles' - System of a Down

"YOU,
My tapeworm tells me what to do,
YOU,
My tapeworm tells me where to go,
Pull the tapeworm out of your ass, hey..."

It's a track on their 'Toxicity' album, and they also do LOADS of other great lyrics. Maybe i'll try and find some more...

"Mistakes, Mis-shapes, Misfits
Raised on a diet of broken biscuits....

...Oh we don't look the same as you
And we don't do the things you do
But we live round here too - oh really?

Brothers, sisters can't you see,
The future's owned by you and me,
There won't be fighting in the streets,
They think that they've got us beat,
But revenge is gonna be so sweet"

Extracted from Pulp's 'Mis-shapes

I think most Pulp lyrics are great though :-)

We satisfy our endless needs
And justify our bloody deeds
In the name of destiny
And in the name of God

And you can see them there,
On Sunday morning
They stand up and sing about,
What its like up there

They call it paradise
I dont know why
You call some place paradise
And you can kiss it goodbye

*I'll be impressed if anyone knows who its by - the older ones amongst us may know*

Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
