Did it work?

according to my dictionary a kernel is the following:

1. A grain or seed, the edible part of a nut
2. Hard concretion of flesh
3. the nucleus of something

Right, okay. A worthwhile topic. Hmmm. Well how about this: when I first read your post asking me whether I knew what a kernel was I thought maybe 'the kids' had turned it into an 'orrible slang word. So I looked it up in my dictionary of slang and it wasn't there. Not the most fascinating of anectdotes but a useful insight into how bored and concerned I was this afternoon.

Because the last person that used that word thought it sounded cool and just used it, and then made a total butt of himself when questioned as to what it is.

I'm considering a whole series of post-modern threads like this one. It'll be a kind of test to distinguish between those who have a (bad) sense of humour and those that don't.
