I wanna get boardband and with ntl
I get to choose between the super duper 512kbps connection at the luuuuurvverrrly prices of either £53,£34,or £25 a month...

Or the not so super duper connection at 128kbps for a great mystique can afford this £14.99 a month

But is it worth me paying £14.99 for a 128k connection? or shall i just stick with my 'i wanna throw the pc across the room cos its so damn slow' 56k modem?

Does anyone have the 128k option?
How fast is it really?(time to download an MP3 is a good example)

I dunno how their system compares to Blueyonder, but if it's just as fast as that, then you'll love it.

You'll be looking at downloads of 60kbps, pings of 30-70, and mere minutes to download files you wouldn't even attempt at the moment...........

I got 128k broadband from ntl 2 weeks ago. It totally rocks, massively. It makes a massive difference, although the people who installed it were total monkeys.

you like monkeys though, right?

NTL is the devil of online gaming. Packet loss ahoy for most users, bad lag quite frequently too. When it works its nice, but it does suffer when gaming online. I had someone in our server from DK today Sniper complaining about it... typical NTL :D GEt Blueyonder, damn near perfect. As my 33 ping shows :P

Usually around the same - I've occasionally had as high as 110kb/sec.

Before anyone says anything, I know that's above the spec, but that doesn't account for compression etc. Besides, I'm only going by the rate that IE reports! :-)

Ntl broadband isn't avaliable in my area. But blue yonder is, so i ordered it last week, and they are installing it on the 27th, which is next wednesday i think.
And the installation is half price now, just hope it's worth it.

I also have NTL broadband, 512k for £24.99 a month, i have had it little over a month and its great, like wookiee said, hardly any slowdown at all, and the only time they ever stop working if if there is a reall bad fault or there are new servers in place (which happened last night for my area). Well worth the money if you are into online gaming and generally download massive files.

wookiee, what trasfer rate do you get in your area? i usually get around 65-70kb/sec.

I have NTL broadband at home. £24.99/month for 512k always-on access. Had no problems with it whatsoever, and only one service issue about 2 weeks after it was first installed.

Blindingly fast usually, but of course it depends on the site you're viewing, and amount of use in your area, as they operate on a 50:1 contention ratio, but I've rarely noticed much slowdown.

There is no way in hell I could *ever* go back to a normal modem now. I occasionally use my mum's PC, which only has a 56k modem, and it is an extremely painful experience!

I pay £15 per month for a 64k connection from NTL. I've used it for the last six months and on reflection, I'd rather have stayed with my modem. NTL must have the worst customer service in the land. I've tried loads of times to ring them for various faults and it's nigh on impossible to get through. They frequently have blackouts aswell, which is a b****r. My advice is to wait until the prices come right down and get 512k.

YOU WHAT!?!? You on some sort of 56k Blueyonder or something (there is one by the way :)) The speed the thing loads pages is tremendous. I have it too and I can load a huge flash page... well loading isn't the word it just opens. Its value for money whatever your going to use it for.
