I wanna get boardband and with ntl
I get to choose between the super duper 512kbps connection at the luuuuurvverrrly prices of either £53,£34,or £25 a month...

Or the not so super duper connection at 128kbps for a great mystique can afford this £14.99 a month

But is it worth me paying £14.99 for a 128k connection? or shall i just stick with my 'i wanna throw the pc across the room cos its so damn slow' 56k modem?

Does anyone have the 128k option?
How fast is it really?(time to download an MP3 is a good example)

i can afford a 500KBPS line. Its just not available here.

I would prefer 500kbps but 128kbps is still fine.

I want broadband so much, but living in a small town in the middle of no where is a real bummer. Hopefully broadband will come out soon.

After a few months with NTL's 512kb service, and I can't fault it. I get sub-20ms latency to some places and have had 100% uptime so far.. I'm impressed.

I can't compare with BY because I've never seen their network in action (isn't it the same backbone as NTL's?).. but broadband vs. 56k is a no-brainer once you've experienced the difference, especially if you use (and understand) the internet to a great degree.. the only annoying thing is that 512kb means "512kb/s download and 128kb/s upload".. not noticable unless you're serving webpages or something *cough*.

Go for NTL 512kb. Latency, bandwidth and service are great, around Cambridge anyway :)

I'm on NTL Broadband (the 512 one) and the first thing I said when I started it up was
''SWEET JESUS CHRIST!''
I saw an example on NTL's channel

MP3 Download

56K: 3 minutes
512: 18 seconds

not so sure about the 112 one though.

I got a ping of 23 today, get MP3s around 2-3 minutes at about 4mb in size, download free trials of Fireworks in 7 mintues, very very happy with that.
somehow I find that downloading small pages takes longer than huge flash covered websites.
also video streaming...*drools* also a pretty modem which flashs a lot.
but the 128k modem is better than what you've already got, seems like thats your best option, as you might have to change your phone line for Blueyonder if your on a BT line.
NTL and Blueyonder seem like the same, although i've only ever used the big Blue.

it downloads at up 20kbps, and get pings of 30-80, not bad for fifteen dollar a month...
