I've just been across to the wipeout website and taken a look at the forums.

The thing is, people are talking about upgrading their ships with gained money. I've asked how you do this but there doesn't seem to be anyone around. It's pretty dead over there.

So, has anyone else actually used money to upgrade their ship? I'm almost 50% through but I haven't even realised that you get money!!!!

I'm not 1005 on this, but I'm pretty sure it works something like this:

Each time you complete a lap or a zone, you get a bonus, right? Well, I'm not sure on the value of it initially, but it's mulitplied by the value in the top right hand corner of the screen.

This value (the multiplier) starts at 1. Each time you go over 10 speed arrows (not straight after each other, just any ten) then the value goes up by the number of the lap you started the count on.

For example, if on lap 4 you go over 5 speedy arrows, then miss the rest, and on lap 5 you go over another 5, that's 10, so the multiplier goes up. But it goes up by 4, as that's the lap number when you started the count.

The muliplier also goes up when you get a perfect lap, i.e a whole lap without hitting anything. This goes up normally. So if you get a perfect lap on lap one, the multiplier goes up by one.

If you then mess up lap 2, the multiplier doesn't increase. If you get a perfect lap on lap 3, the multiplier goes up by 2, as it's only the second perfect lap you've done.

The highest value the multiplier can reach is 99, regardless of what happens after that.

With the multiplier on 99, you get something like 30Million just for completing a lap. That was on about Zone 35/36 though...

Hope that makes sense, and helps!

How does that bonus multiplier thing work then?

I never have time to look at it.

And also, whenever I reach Zone 30 I always ruin it because of the giant 'MEDAL AWARDED' that appears across the screen.

I think the money aspect is good and bad, obviously good to earn money and upgrade your ship but once you get a decent amount you can upgrade past 70%, once awarded the 1st pilot, then downgrade that ship, do the same will all the other ships. Therefore I unlocked every 1st pilot in about three minutes!
Do you relalise you need over 50 MILLION credits to upgrade Pirahna Pilot 1 to full stats. AG League here we come again !

Devo, I think it's a good thing.

Votty, I'm two places behind you in the league. I've figured out how to get bigger scores, with the multiplier number in the top left corner of the screen.

This probably sounds stupid, but I find it really difficult to begin with, you're going too damn slow!

I normally get about 2 perfect laps in to start off with, then make a stupid mistake. Then at about Zone 15/16/17 get another couple of perfect laps in.

The highest I've got is Zone 32, and I'm only about 20Million off your score (off the top of my head), I plan to beat it tonight.

:-)

What does everyone else think about the ability to *downgrade*? Should they have put that in or not? As it's easy to downgrade a ship to nothing, recoup your money, and use it to upgrade another. I can't make my mind up whether this is a good thing or not.

I got to Zone 34. I don't usually damage my craft at all until I get to around Zone 20. Then I often have a dismal lap in which I grind away about a quarter of my energy. I'm slightly demoralised after that and don't perform quite as well. Or maybe it's because I'm going twice as fast! :-D

Zone mode is MENTAL!

I unlocked it yesterday afternoon, and had a go. It is freaky. My eyes still hurt.

I've got a high enough score to get me into the top 50 in the UK, about 259 million, but I couldn't register last night, I'll have another go today.

Votty, you have to get to Zone 30 to get a medal which then unlocks the next Zone, if you see what I mean. What zone did you get to when you got you 450million score?

Just unlocked the G-Tech super weapon and the second racer of the team (Naomi Turner ?) is almost fully upgraded. :-)

Got access to the lead driver in the team now too. :-)
Are all the other teams unlocked via the league ?

Might try and get Auricom's super weapon soon too. Hows everyone else going with challenge mode ?
