The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Do the avatars deter new users?
Work is progressing on the chat forum system to enable you (Freeola customers) to have ready made forums on your web sites.
Freeola Bingo is much improved now that it runs constantly. Originally suggested on the forums, Freeola Bingo was intended to give the forums a boost. By the way, it's not intended to be a permanent fixture and Google won't allow us to advertise it, even though it's free.
The site gets thousands of visitors and hundreds of new sign-ups per day, but this is hardly evident on the forums.
It does not seem worthwhile to me, to have eight different forums generating small numbers of posts. Maybe there should only be one.
As the rest of Gameaday is games orientated wouldn't it be better to have one focal point and declare this a games forum. After all you can still chat and post intelligent threads or stories, or talk about wrestling, regardless of what the forums are actually called. Back to our roots perhaps.
Or have chat forums "had their day"?
What the hell is that database for? gamefaqs.com is where you can go for cheats and walkthroughs, and who's going to trawl through the reviews to find something there?
It's there just for GAD and no other reason, as far as I can see. Scrap them all, put the GADs back into the chat forums, which I might add, is what made them so damn popular to begin with, and award posts instead of pointless reviews.
I reckon Bingo should stay, as that's a bit of fun and can attract more people here. A lot more I think than the cheats/walkthroughs and reviews do.
And I'm sure you can produce a list of numbers surrounding the hits on the searches.. but it's not making anyone post on the forums, is it?
Now it's just utterly pointless giving GADs for reviews. The reviews don't help neither the company or the forum.
And no offence, but if you only won GAD for reviews, then maybe you weren't writing enough crapchat on the forums! Which is what's missing at the moment
Anyway:
GADs
Yeah, totally agree with GADs just for forum posts again. That will encourage people to post more and not to copy and paste walkthroughs.
Walkthroughs
Incidentally, do you keep a tally of how many people just come here to look at walkthroughs, probably not that many, I'd guess, and even so, it doesn't really add anything to the site if they do...
Forums
One forum? Name me one successful website that has just a solo forum? None. That's how many!
Maybe change a few forums around, but to me, if you change the GADs to just chat posts you'll get more posts on other forums here as well...
Slagging off Tony/Old timers
Don't. It's not productive. Tony's just running a business and hosting a website on the side. On the other hand, the old forum users do know what they're talking about and should at least be heard and noted.
At the end of the day, this place is just another forum, no more, no less. We've just got attached to it. Sad to say it wouldn't matter a jot in the whole scheme of things if it all disappeared tomorrow, but it's important to some of us in our spare time as somewhere to go.
Despite the lack of posts at the moment, I still love this forum (as I love to go and read PM, though it's often a lot slower to load pages than here), but at the end of the day it's just another bunch of web pages to chat on.

Blame monkey_man! He's the lazy sod who wont update it. It's not like he's busy either.. work, girlfriend, moving house, he has plenty of time to spare!
I think one of the main problems is the way some people react towards new sign ups on the site - there are groups of members on here that are almost clique-like and make new folk feel rather un welcome (well thats my view from what I see)
Perhaps more could be done to make people create more interesting topics to get the chat activity up.
