I have an MP3 player. It's one of those Kodak MC3 things and as a player it's not too shabby. Unfortunately it only has 16mb, which is bad to say the least.

The problem is this, I could get a cheap 256mb compact flash card and store 50 or so songs for £60. I was fine(ish) with that until I saw the Archos Jukebox for £160 with 10gb of storage and the MP3 CD players on SR for £50 storing around 150 songs. Now I have a dillema.

So, do I
a)get the 256mb card now for my current, and fairly small, MP3 player.
b)get a CD MP3 player, which is bigger and more cumbersome, but plays CDRW disks of MP3s
c) save up for ages and try for the 10gb jukebox, which is bigger than the Kodak thing but stores many more songs.

The problem is that taking any of these to Spain each year will involve some wear and tear and I'd prefer them in my pocket to my bag for the plane. hm.

Ideas?

128kbps for normal MP3, 64kbps for MP3 Pro and players that use it.

update. The MP3's don't sound too bad at 96kbps, saving some space if I did by a card. Even at 64kbps they are ok, but not wonderful. So the plan is to convert the ones I want to 80kbps and save some space, allowing me to have around 75-80 songs on a 256mb card.

But the jukebox is still calling me. If only Apple decided to sell their Ipod at a resonable price then I could have gone for that. Anything above £160 is way too much for me at the moment.

I'd say get one of these. I'm getting one anyways. When i get the money that is. Wookiee has one. You can transfer MP3s to it via USB at 32X speed. With compression you can store upto 340 mins on a MD.

Sorry, that sounded really snide.

I blame utterly butterly on my cheese sandwich. I think it's gone a bit bad. Urgh.

Because you can't skip tracks with a walkman. Or skip back to hear the last one again.

You also have to buy a minidisc player/recorder and minidiscs. OK, so minidiscs are cheap, but then tapes are cheaper, so why not have a walkman?
