I have not used, or even been within 100 feet of a GameCube controller, and all the info. I have on it has come from magazines and pictures. I have noticed that it's design is quite similar to that of N64's, but with a different layout. The 'Z-trigger button', famous for it's effective use for FPS's, also appears on the Cube's pad's design. But for some reason it has been strangely placed ontop of the controller, just infront of the 'R-shoulder button'? Surely it'd be much easier to have it back behind the pad, like the N64's, so you could also use 'R' for aiming???
Now this is where my idea comes in! Yes, I strongly feel that the Z-button should be on the back of the pad, ready for your middle finger. The controller's shape has changes, as has just 2 areas to hold instead of the trident shaped N64 pad. So what about TWO 'Z-trigger buttons' on the back??? This way you could use the Z button in better comfort if you're right or left-handed, and if you're character had 2 guns, you could use one button for each gun!!
Imaigine playing 'The Matrix' in the GS building!! Just like Neo, you could shoot and reload from either gun, at your own will! What do you think of this 'triggering' idea???

i was gonna say that " went through shigsys mind" but , i thought , he didn't do it by himself, so it's not shigsy , not nintendo , so it's shigsy and his team ... sorted.
So I take back what I have said and intend to try the GameCube controller out first, before I make anymore judgements. But of course, if you're lucky enough to have already used a GC pad, feel free to add your thoughts and comments.
It's supposedly really uncomfortable if you use it like that.
I've heard that Nintendo have other uses in mind for it.

Excuse me, get it right. Shigeru Miyamoto designed the pad, Nintendo only paid him to do so :)
I also thought 'why not just remove the L button'??? After all, we never used it on the N64 pad did we? And it had the same functions a Z anyway. Then Nintendo could put the Z in L's position, making it slightly easier to use again! But I still don't see why they had to move the Z button in the first place!
if nintendo did this then they would be critisised for copying the dreamcast controller , just like the xbox did , it's an ace idea that probably went through nintendos minds when designing it but , they like stuff to be original and so they wouldn't do it.
one way they could have got around this was to of positioned one z trigger slightly higher than the other , so that way they werent the same as the dreamcast ones , because they were level ! SORTED !
Whoever said it's kinda like the PS2 pad needs a right slappin'!
The Z button on the top does feel quite odd at first though. As there's 2 shoulder buttons on one side, it kind of feels like there should also be 2 on the other side, but there isn't and so your fingers feel slightly odd!
But you get use to it after a while, and OOOOOOOOOOoooooooo it's a nice pad!
