So tell me...

When do you think GameCube will be launched? The day is important... after all, we've got to have enough units... there is competition from the X-Box and MGS2...

So, after thinkning about it, give me a date, and your reason why!

Another thing... What games do you think will be launched, at launch? The US launch games, save for all that American Football crap would be my bet... maybe PIKMIN and Melee, although they might come a week or two after!

So... what do you reckon?

April 5th? March 22nd? March 29th?

It might be a low key launch?

Just found out that there WILL be a 60Hz mode on the PAL Gamecube too.

It keeps better and better, but decidedly worse for my bank account.

Can they not pre-order a pre-order form whilst they await the release of the release date info?

Actually, retailers can't...

Nintendo have ordered them not to until the official pre-order scheme is launched... like that has stopped them!

What have Ninty UK actually

At least by announcing it on Monday retailers will know about this, and can start taking pre-orders.

As I said, it needs to be followed up with advertising, and something a bit special.

Meka, good point about Ninty increasing the GC hype by releasing a release date for the console's release date...

But this is only going to get through to the hardcore gamers who are going to get the console anyway! In order to crack the massmarket, Ninty have to start getting ads for their GC on TV and in shops... which is simply not happening.

What have Ninty UK actually done???

When the Xbox release date was announced people were like "That's ages away." I doubt many of you can even remember when that date was announced.

With the Gamecube, people on these forums are genuinely excited by the fact that the date is to be announced on Monday!

This is pretty smart on Nintendo's behalf, to get people excited in such a way, but it won't work if we're told that we're in for a long wait. Nintendo have started a ball rolling now, and if it rolls too far it will lose momentum.

They have this announcement on Monday, then the following week the show in France. Nintendo need to follow this up with other shows or lots of advertising right up until launch.

Support for the Xbox is certainly picking up now that it's picture is in all of the game shops. Nintendo need just as many pictures of the Gamecube alongside them soon, or people just won't know about it.

So what I'm saying is that it's a start. Nintendo must have a strategy in place to make sure that people stay interested.

One way of doing this would be to give one game a special Euro launch, before the rest of the world. Maybe that's why the American release of Star Fox Adventures has been delayed? A treat for European gamers, after being kept in the dark so long? Not likely, though I feel it would be a good move.

Yesterday I said I was sick of the speculation, but you know I'm not. It's will be great to know when it's being released and how much it will cost. That way I can try to figure out which bills not to pay in order to afford one!

I don't think that Nintendo are so scared of Metal Gear Solid 2.

Smash Brothers outsold it, and Smash Brothers has a user base 20 times less than the PS2.
As for the Xbox, they're going to have to face it sooner or later...

Nintendo will launch their magic dust, which will turn all round things square for 1 day. They will then appologise to all the car owners who couldn't get to work that day and their magic dust will be confiscated by the NARCs.

Seriously though, I hope it will be a March launch, I expect late march.

Herdy Gerdy isn't worth getting? Looks like it could be a good game, I'm looking forward to it, anyway.

As much as I hate to say this, but I have doubts whether Gamecube will reach our stores by March, well, at least EARLY March, anyway.
Mainly because of Xbox and MGS2...
I can't honestly see GC here by the 1st, and for the whole two weeks afterwards there'll be two huge...things! entering the market, so I think GC will be out late March or early April...

Oh yeah!
NGC Mag states that Starfox Adventures from Rare is out AT LAUNCH over here. Yeah! SSBM, Starfox, Rogue Squadron, Super Monkey Ball, Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion, errr, other blinkin' great games, too!
