It took me a long time to think about what I was doing, if I threw a GameCube and WaveRace infront of you, giving you the option four months ago of playing it or just selling it. Which would you choose?
Here is how I made my choice:
I did it before, with the GameBoy Advance. I imported from Japan, and was very pleased with myself for having it months before it was sold in shops over here. However, this only novelty (I-have-it-you-dont) wore off and I was left with months before others were enjoying it with me, and also the fact that I had completed the imported games.
I sat there in my lounge, contemplating opening the GameCube box and having a go... (this being a go which wouldn't have finished till the next morning). My father came into the room looking at me looking like Plato laughed then went to unpack it.
'Com on Joby, I want a go you know.'
'Stop dad, let me think about this...'
He stood up, smiled at me, then left the room.
I didn't want to play a console months before anyone else, completing the games I had and also not having the fun of trying to get one at the same time as everyone else on launch. No. I wanted to be playing these machines at the same time as everyone else. Not just nodding and agreeing like I have done before.
Importing ruined part of what excitment I could have had on the GameBoyAdvance. I didn't want that to happen to a console I want more than sliced bread. I shall wait for the PAL release of the GameCube, and I pity the people who imported the console or brought it as an import. You will learn to wait.
Five weeks, thats about all we have left to wait to properly play our own PAL GameCube systems. I don't know about you, but it does seem to have the most excellent and amazing games in development. Metriod just makes me need to loo and Resident Evil's new movies leaves me picking my jaw up from the floor.
The userbase will expand for the GameCube as these 'older' games are released. I know there are solely hardcore Resident Evil games out there, when the GC title comes up, I don't see these people being stopped.
Beautiful, I waited, everytime I went forward to unpack, I grabbed my other hand and pulled that back. That was fun. Guys, the GameCube will be amazing. Capcom cannot be wrong.
We couldn't have it better could we?
The more I think about it, the more I look forward to the games and excitement in the shops and on these very forums....
Sorry Dringo.
Here is to the 'very near' future!
Thanks
er-no
If you ask
> me, it will have all the excitement of a wet firework.
Nobody asked you. Infact I reckon you will have all the people ready to buy an XBox change there mind when they see the price and games on the GameCube.
I say five weeks as an average length. I did say 'about'.
Mantis, if its stormed at us... it will make people want to buy it, also, they don't actually make different GameCubes for the euro launch, they are just simply changed to work for PAL.... thousands would be ready at the moment.
Who else....March 10th was the release date for the N64 in 1997 (or so that Mario Standee says over there). Nintendo want to release it before... three weeks after the announcment they have hinted at.
As Edgy says: 1st March.
*hovers with pride*
We will announce the European Date at the Caines game show (4-8th February) and the console will come out a few weeks after that!
As regards to your topic mr no,
*SMACK*
THATS FOR NICKING MY LINE!
Etc, but, you could of had just a little insy winsy go :o)
Anyway, I personally don't care anymore when the GameCube is released. As longa as it's a success, who cares?
I wont have the money to buy one til June so I'll be able to buy one, hopefully a different colour to purple (black or maybe that orange colour from Japan'll do, not that it really matters to the games) and have more than the choice of release games to buy for it.
The xbox already has adverts showin on spanish TV, so hopefully there will be UK ads on TV soon aswell. My GAME store has xbox pre-order posters up already.
But I mean, 2 weeks from announcement to release for the GC. Thats just stupid. If Nintendo release the GC in 5 weeks it will be a huge skank up rush job. Stores won't be ready, no-one will know, mags won't have time to release the news and get it widespread.
If you ask me, it will have all the excitement of a wet firework.
It's a rumour with a strong base.
See PB's topic in chat:
"I've heard things!"
(that's right. 150 pounds apparently)
If it did launch at this price it would be amazing, i would be able to buy a couple of games and peripherals at launch.
> The GC will be on UK shop shelves in 5 weeks?!
LOL, that is funny. So
> Nintendo are going to announce, manufacture, promote, advertise and release a
> console in a new terotory in 5 weeks. Don't make me laugh.
Prepare for hysterics.
The announcement is in about 2-3 weeks, the manufacturing started ages ago, the promotions and adverts will start from the announcement and the machine will supposedly launch for half the price of the Xbox (that's right. 150 pounds apparently) and a few weeks before.
The sudden rush presumably comes with the sales figures.
Although the GC was way ahead of the Xbox in the first week, it only sold another 100,000 units or so afterwards and the December figures show the Xbox outselling it by a long shot.
So Nintendo need Europe and are going to work extra hard to make it a success.
So we'll have to wait 6 months for an FPS to match Halo.
We can wait.
The launch titles are more than enough to keep us going until then, especially with strong multiplayer.
