Thats right, I am the road wh0re.

My Dad took me out to teach me driving for the first time in a big old Mondeo.

So he explained it all and I took it all in like a pro. Then I put my foot down and we roared off onto the other side of the Industrial site.

"Is that your son?" asked a lady with her husband standing by her.

"Yes" anwsered my Dad.

"He's bloody good"

I just took the compliment like I knew I was the God of the highway.

My Dad then tells me I'm so good that he's taking me on the Motorway. So as you do I agreed and off I went in the Mondeo ruling everything the tires touched.

Not really, I actually done pretty crap.

I spent over a grand on lessons and then failed, not good, still doing the intensive course I got free lunch woohoo.

You'll probably have to try the nearest major town to do an Intensive course.

Automatics use more fuel and have a lower MPG rate...

They're for lazy people...

I passed first time in a manual!

Go me!

If anybody has a copy of todays daily mail laying around, look through it and read the little story on the bottom of one of the pages about the boy who got carjacked while on his test!

He failed!

If it go's wrong I'll do the £300 thing.

But I think I can handle the car. Will take practice but soon I'll have it all wrapped up. Hopefully.

The £300 tests sound quite a good deal though, i'd say.

I've driven one and it doesn't feel right not having to use a gear stick.

I failed my first test after taking lessons, then I took one of them intensive courses where you pass after a week of 8 hour lessons it costs about £300 though but you usually pass after a week

I suppose it's better learning it all at once though just to get it over.

Any downsides to the automatics?

Don't pass in an automatic as you will not be allowed to drive a manual ypu get a mark on your licence saying you can only drive autos, pass in a manual and you can drive both
