Some well mannered peon will shortly be sending me this prized game after I won it on eBay for the meagre price of £17 boxed and wrapped.

Soon... SOOOOON, I will be back to the days of number-crunching strategy and death-defying heroics.

Sniper, Shogun was the original, followed by the expansion pack "The mongol Invasion". Medieval is a complete sequel, and will soon have its own expansion, the wotsit invasion or something.

Then we have Rome: Total War, which exists only to encourage tendancies for premature ejaculation.

Shogun rules. The amount of times I have unleased Heavy Cavalry onto unsuspecting Archers, as their guards charge my main impentrable battle line.......

Ahh............

I want Medieval.

I guess holding loads of soldiers on one screen would be alot for even a new pc....... but yes AOM doesnt have as much going on screen.
I dont mind Medieval now i'm used to it .. but is shogun an older than it?

Well the graphics in Rome: Total War look amazing, all in 3D this time and all 10,000 or so units each come with their individual character animations as well. If that's what you're looking for of course, I for one will be more interested in what’s improved on the strategic side of things.

AOM? Age of Mythology?

I don't think your PC has to juggle 10,000 units in that does it?

Graphics a game does not make. Especially so in the world of strategy games.

I find that a lot of pretty games are pretty so you spend all your time marvelling at the lovely backgrounds and polygons, and not noticing that the game is severly lacking in the gameplay department.

There's nothing wrong with the graphics of Madieval, they look alright and besides which the graphics second place to the actual game, which thankfully is where it excells.
