Flicking through the latest issue (in Smiths) I noticed these scores...

Tony Hawks 3 - 7/10
SSX Tricky - 7/10
MGS2 - 8/10

Are they always this harsh with every console/review ?
What do they want for their money ?

Words, you see, say more than numbers.

To prove my point, make sense of this.

876.

See?

I never pay much attention to review scores, but rather the content of the review itself. I know what I like, and if the game description in the review appeals to me, then I', likely to by it, regardless of the overall score.

That's it on the head. Choose a mag that reflects your own tastes.

The thing is, folks, these reviewers are only human, and have an opinion to express. If an Edge reviewer thinks it's only a 7/10 game it doesn't mean that you won't think it's a 9/10, or something else.

Don't mind Edge being harsh, as long as they are consistent across all platforms.

Because they're too

In my opinion Edge reviews are some of the best around.

Maybe because all the titles you mentioned were sequels?

Anyway, 7 and 8's are pretty good scores by Edge standards...
