I've actually gotten quite good at the game, for some practice you should buy the GBC game, I did (was hoping to get the GBA version) and it teaches you all of the Domino city dueling rules (which is where we are right now in the series). But the weird thing is that you have to sacrifice 2 monsters to get Dark Magician or the Black Luster soldier on the field.
So far the best monster I have in my deck is the Black Meteor Dragon, but I have much stonger ones in my spare cards, but you have to have enogh deck capacity to have it in there. I have the Mellenium shield as the best defense monster as well.
But this game has a nasty twist, you have different types of cards: Fiend, Shadow, Dreams, Light, Forest, Fire, Wind, Earth, Thunder, Water. and the one that has no weakness to the others is Divine.
Dreams beat Shadow, Shadow beat Light, light beats Fiend, and Fiend beats Dreams. It's pretty easy to work out the others.
