Sony should do this, and they probably will, because Nintendo's offer of a free game with every Gamecube ends in March, which means that the Gamecube too will also come down in price around this time.
In May, XBox 1.5 (or XBox Lite as some like to refer to it) should be announced and launched officially at the E3 show by XBox. For it to compete with the newly reduced PS2 and Gamecube, it would HAVE to launch at around the £100-129 range. Either that or the XBox 1.5 could launch at £159 and then we could all nip out and grab one its the more lumpy predecessors for a couple of ponies.
Which means?
Most of us can afford to sample the delights of more than one console in the future, which means console wars could become a thing of the past!!!
(Except for the poor, uneducated children, who can only afford one console and therefore believe with absolute faith that whichever one they have is the best).
Ramifications for the Future?
What the HELL are we going to argue about in FOG Chat?

Just like Half-Life was being released on the DC? I'll believe it when I see it. And IF it does materialise, Halo 2'll be out soon.

Halo is the best FPS ever. Yes, better than GoldenEye, AND Half-Life.

Not really. If you want to say JSRF is just JSR but not as good, then ditto for Mario Sunshine. There are actually very few GC exclusives that are 'decent' as you put it, at least going on the logic that sequels not as brilliant as their predeccessors aren't any good.
By all means enjoy your GC and the games you have for it, but don't put down the other consoles with false cliches.

I hate realistic racing games, Halo is being released on the PC and JSRF isn't really any different from the DC original, except the took the decent part out, spraying the graffiti.
There are more than enough GC games to keep my busy in the time it takes to put the XBox games on the PC, but with the exception of Halo and Splinter Cell it's always PC games being put onto Xbox a few months later.
As for Halo, it's nothing special, I won't be getting it anyway.
There's bound to be some decent games that aren't on the PC, but when compared to the GCs exclusives that aren't on PC as well (in other words, all of them) it's a rather pitiful line up.

Where you get that from?
Just insane that a game costs nearly as a console. Look at it this way if you had a chioce of the profit margin on a console or a game which would you prefer. And it was an opinion not a request

Yeah. How many fun hours have you spent on those PC versions of Jet Set Radio, Project Gotham Racing and Halo?
Yeah. YEAH.
> Wait, wait, wait, hold the phone. What the hell is XBOX 1.5?
Stripped down, lighter and more portable version of XBox. Does the same job, but doesn't break your table when you place it on top of it.

Not much of an expert on how large corporations structure their finances are you?
ho hum
