Sony should do this, and they probably will, because Nintendo's offer of a free game with every Gamecube ends in March, which means that the Gamecube too will also come down in price around this time.
In May, XBox 1.5 (or XBox Lite as some like to refer to it) should be announced and launched officially at the E3 show by XBox. For it to compete with the newly reduced PS2 and Gamecube, it would HAVE to launch at around the £100-129 range. Either that or the XBox 1.5 could launch at £159 and then we could all nip out and grab one its the more lumpy predecessors for a couple of ponies.
Which means?
Most of us can afford to sample the delights of more than one console in the future, which means console wars could become a thing of the past!!!
(Except for the poor, uneducated children, who can only afford one console and therefore believe with absolute faith that whichever one they have is the best).
Ramifications for the Future?
What the HELL are we going to argue about in FOG Chat?
> Oh, and does anyone have a good site for this XBOX 1.5?
Start here:

Then got to http://www.google.com and type in "XBox 1.5" and hit search, you'll get about 1200 hits.

Sorry, but that's a load of tosh. No One lives Forever, MOH: allied assault, Soldier of Fortune 2, Operation Flashpoint and even Terminator: Future Shock, a pretty old game which had plenty of vehicles implemented into the game-play.
As for the Halo remarks, I think you'll they have been done before.
Oh and physics? Try UT2k3.
Fable is an aquired taste (and that's only two games anyway)
And Doom III won't be nearly as impressive as the PC version in terms of graphics, which can be scaled down for people who don't have a mega powerful PC.
Oh yeah, and you don't have to pay a thing to play online either.

It's AI, it's weapon balance system, it's "two guns" rule, its physics, using vehicles well (original seeing as nothing else has done it yet). The huge worlds, the way NO two firefights are the same. That's pretty much still unrivalled now.

More moves, bigger levels, different objectives etc.

Doom III is definitely a big coup for MS as most people won't bother upgrading their PCs to run it. And what about the likes of BC and Fable?

Half-Life was confirmed for the DC, heck, they even had a few promo copies made, but it was never released. And Duke Nukem Forever has probably spent 4 years in PC development, look where that is.
Fair cop on "my opinion is fact" though :-D
> And TimeSplitters 2 is also better than Halo.
*pretends he didn't hear that*
Halo is your opinion, my opinion is that Thief II, SS2 and Metroid Prime are the best FPS games avaliable.
Halo adds a big fat nothing to FPS, there's nothing original about it. It's a load of exsisting things puleld off very well, but it isn't good enough to be the best, not by a long way.
Mario Sunshine adds a lot of new stuff compared to Mario 64, tons more moves, more interactive levels, the water pack etc.
JSRF adds nothing that wasn't in JSR.
As for your final comment, again it's just opinions.

And yes, Halo has been confirmed for PC release, it did spend 4 years in PC development before money bags snatched it up after all.
> Halo is the best FPS ever. Yes, better than GoldenEye
---
I strongly disagree. :-D
And TimeSplitters 2 is also better than Halo.
