I want to play Quake 3 and Counter-Strike against my brother on his computer by connecting my computer to his computer with a cable so we can play Quake 3 or Counter-Strike.
Can you tell me what cable I need to buy from Special Reserve to play head-to-head in Quake 3 and Counter-Strike?
I don’t want to buy any network cards, I just want a cable so we can play head-to-head in Quake 3. Does head-to-head gaming require a network card?, or can you make do with a cable connecting the 2 computers together?
How would you access the multiplayer head-to-head games in Quake 3 and Counter-Strike with 2 computers connected together by a cable?
Thanks if you can answer some or all of my questions.
Andy
Thanks for your replies.
Can't I just use a Null Modem Cable? or does that require a network card?
I found this lead on UKPC.net:
UNIVERSAL NULL MODEM CABLE (1.8 metre) for PC. connects two PC’s via any serial port (9 pin or 25 pin). 9 pin & 25 pin connectors at both ends. 1.5 MB / min data transfer rate. Ideal for data transfer or head to head network games (see list of compatible titles).
£9.99 GG5574
I believe SR do some sort of USB netowrking kit, but I'd much rather do it the "proper" way especially as the whole setup could be done for ~£30.
