If Nintendo didn't exist, we would be in a world which would be quite boring for the videogamer.
Nintendo gave us a lot that most people are ungrateful for, many wonderous things that have helped shape the industry to what we see, breathe, feel, smell and hear today.
Its a common fact to some that they are the 'god's' within the industry, but to to others they are ignored, laughed at are seen as a silly children brand intent on dullness.

Really how wrong could that type of person be?... truly-I say!.
Not only did Nintendo give the world many of Gaming pleasures, but they helped define it, to shape and mould it.
And when they are up to something, many within the gaming world sit up and listen, in an attempt to steal ideas and nab the slightest hint to their upcoming secrets.
It's true!.

Every time we see or hear of Miyamoto regarding the unveiling of a new game, he is extremely quiet, too quiet in fact to the annoyance of many. He always states that he is afraid of people stealing his ideas for their own advantage.
We've seen it before, if you can remember back at the unveiling of F-Zero X to the world in demo form for the gaming press, it boasted of visuals that consisted of loop courses where you could ride on the ceiling of tunnels and manouvre upside down. Not long after, a game that hadn't been mentioned was revealed by Acclaim called 'Extreme G', featuring these very ideas, but not on the same quality scale. Coincidence perhaps? I think not.

And with the gaming greats particularly Mario 64, many developers the world over went back to the drawing board to match it's scale....unsuccessfully.
With Zelda, many now try emulate what was achieved......unsuccessfully.
And of course many here would know of others.
Developers do watch the Big N with a keen eye.

Not only in games do Nintendo lead while others follow, but in gaming harware too. First we see the invention of the D-Pad...then others follow.
Then its the save game function within the Legend of Zelda-then others follow.
Other things too such as the 'Total' innovation with the analogue stick with 99% of N64 games happened, they didn't invent the idea i know, but they where there to show the world that it is the true feature of gaming movement-and it worked-on a grand scale.
Then it was the Shoulder buttons, the Rumble pak. Controller slots and of course now with a camera stick function.

You see with Nintendo many things that non-Nintendo gamers take for granted wouldn't be there. The things that non-Nintendo gamers love and cherish so dear simply wouldn't be part of their lives.
Nintendo remains an inspiration to many within the gaming industry, many games now pay homage to their titles(Why Nintendo like it or not) on rival systems(Jak and Daxter- combining Mario and Zelda features) you see without Nintendo the world would be quite boring-and possibly people would have given up on games a long time ago.

With the looming Gamecube come this Spring(yes Spring... im still hopeful!) 'I hope' with Nintendo's upcoming 32 titles for 2002, that we will be in a year to remember.
A year of all years that will be exciting and see the re-emergence of many of the gaming greats, namely 'Mario and Zelda', in which again it will be a huge cycle-where upon the development world will sit up and take notice. Along with the Millions of gamers too!.
Thank god Nintendo exist, is all i say.

Having said that though, the MegaDrive had the best game out off all the 16/8bit consoles, Sonic 3. It's also better than a lot of >32bit games as well.

Well, Sega never had a strong console presence to start with...

Remember the 8 bit era? Well, there were about a dozen consoles in Japan at the time. The NES outsold all the rest put together (inc Master System) by miles!

Same deal with the SNES in Japan- it blew everyone away!

The Megadrive only did well in the West, and that was only really after Sonic 2 was released at Christmas.

Japan has always been a one console market.

Nintendo do, have and always will (maybe not always) have effect on the gaming world. They made Sony what it is and sized up to Sega a lot about 5 o 6 years ago. Anyway, without Nintendo, Sony wouldn't have made the Playstation and Seag would probably be ruling the console market.

All those other comapnies like the makers of the Anmiga and things liek that might still be around too.

I'm sure video games would still be around though. But its anyone's guess

Sure Nintendo Started it, But Sony

Both Nintendo and Sony took it to new heights in the 3D era.
The N64 took it to new heights in Gameplay.
Sony took it to new heights in marketing.

The games industry owes them both equally.

Wow what aquestion "if nintendo didnt exist" well if they didn't the gaming world as we know it today in it's fine glory would be a sad place. Nintendo were the pioneers as far as im concered as a child growing up to be produced with the faithful NES as a pesent i was over joyed and soon began the adventure known as Nintendo.
I don't know about evryone else but the constant competeing of Nintendo and Sega was very exiting, the thought that Nintento had big plans for the NES in the form of the upgrade box got sega hot under the coller and so you as the consumer and a handfull of cash to spend wouldn't know who was going to come up trumps. As always Nintendo were the winners streaking ahead of sega in every way possible
with the release of Super Mario the Itallien Plumber And his brother and sidekick Luigi Nintendo gamers were offered a superb treat Sega not to be beaten by this Released Sonic the Hedghog this spurned more competition between th etwo gaming giants.
A few years pass and Nintento Japan release the latest edition to the consoling era the SNES or super nintendo wow talk about out with the old and in with the new a whole new consol new games new technology and new competion, thats right within months of the consols coming into the uk market Sega had the Mega Drive. With both units offering the user cartridgegames for super quick loading and durability it was a tough hard to choose between them, but as all true Nintendo fans know there was only one console to choose and only one character thats right Mario was back and better than ever sales of the Nintento went through the roof and sega needed somthing to get back on track tje answer a new kind of game media one that was classed as "Space Aged" and out of a game it self it was cd-rom Sega intented to have a dokcing station and upgrade kit for the mega drive that would allow it to be used with an external cd-rom drive thus Mega CD was born.
Ha i say, sega shot them selves in the foot it hardly sold over here and the games were limeted and nasty i mean realy nasty. Nintendo were laughing and so they should by now they had the NES the Game Boy which out preformed all predecessors and is still one of the only hand held consols on the market and now they have there flag ship consol the SNES gaming companys were releasing new games on to the SNES most of the companys had shown there talent first on the NES and were now rising up and showing us gamers what they could do with the right technology.
Nintndo are still going strong today with the N64 Game Boy Colour and Advance and now with the Gcube on the books for early Febuary they are still to rival Sony any game manufacturer who has not been at all influenced by Nintendo would be lieing so dont dismiss them just yet all you sony playstaion owners they are and allways will be the kings og gaming.

So that is what we would have missed if Nintendo didn't exist.

see ya!!!

Did I say Nintendo invented the Analogue stick?!?!
And for your information Sega didn't invent it either, it was used in the early eighties by a rather unknown company.

Don't get me started on the Analogue sticks that Ninty DIDN't invent or introduce to Console gameplay! (SATURN!!)

Anyway, it's odd how Ninty have come to the top. Miyamoto, a mere artist, was asked to redesign an arcade game, and created Donkey Kong. Now, of course, he's the best game designer of all time... amazing

Nintendo have had an immense effect on the industry regardless of anybody's preferences.

Nintendo have done something to the gaming-world that, had it been missing, would have made things very different for us.

Sony took it to new heights with the helping hand of Nintendo if you are familiar with your gaming history.
So in effect, Sony Playstation wouldn't be here at all.
