Nintendo gave us a lot that most people are ungrateful for, many wonderous things that have helped shape the industry to what we see, breathe, feel, smell and hear today.
Its a common fact to some that they are the 'god's' within the industry, but to to others they are ignored, laughed at are seen as a silly children brand intent on dullness.
Really how wrong could that type of person be?... truly-I say!.
Not only did Nintendo give the world many of Gaming pleasures, but they helped define it, to shape and mould it.
And when they are up to something, many within the gaming world sit up and listen, in an attempt to steal ideas and nab the slightest hint to their upcoming secrets.
It's true!.
Every time we see or hear of Miyamoto regarding the unveiling of a new game, he is extremely quiet, too quiet in fact to the annoyance of many. He always states that he is afraid of people stealing his ideas for their own advantage.
We've seen it before, if you can remember back at the unveiling of F-Zero X to the world in demo form for the gaming press, it boasted of visuals that consisted of loop courses where you could ride on the ceiling of tunnels and manouvre upside down. Not long after, a game that hadn't been mentioned was revealed by Acclaim called 'Extreme G', featuring these very ideas, but not on the same quality scale. Coincidence perhaps? I think not.
And with the gaming greats particularly Mario 64, many developers the world over went back to the drawing board to match it's scale....unsuccessfully.
With Zelda, many now try emulate what was achieved......unsuccessfully.
And of course many here would know of others.
Developers do watch the Big N with a keen eye.
Not only in games do Nintendo lead while others follow, but in gaming harware too. First we see the invention of the D-Pad...then others follow.
Then its the save game function within the Legend of Zelda-then others follow.
Other things too such as the 'Total' innovation with the analogue stick with 99% of N64 games happened, they didn't invent the idea i know, but they where there to show the world that it is the true feature of gaming movement-and it worked-on a grand scale.
Then it was the Shoulder buttons, the Rumble pak. Controller slots and of course now with a camera stick function.
You see with Nintendo many things that non-Nintendo gamers take for granted wouldn't be there. The things that non-Nintendo gamers love and cherish so dear simply wouldn't be part of their lives.
Nintendo remains an inspiration to many within the gaming industry, many games now pay homage to their titles(Why Nintendo like it or not) on rival systems(Jak and Daxter- combining Mario and Zelda features) you see without Nintendo the world would be quite boring-and possibly people would have given up on games a long time ago.
With the looming Gamecube come this Spring(yes Spring... im still hopeful!) 'I hope' with Nintendo's upcoming 32 titles for 2002, that we will be in a year to remember.
A year of all years that will be exciting and see the re-emergence of many of the gaming greats, namely 'Mario and Zelda', in which again it will be a huge cycle-where upon the development world will sit up and take notice. Along with the Millions of gamers too!.
Thank god Nintendo exist, is all i say.
> It isn't even a 32bit screen.
It's LCD, so it's limited. All a screen does is display what it's told to.
So I wouldn't be suprised if the SNES could.
> People these days (mostly official Nintendo mags) are saying that GBA and all
> games for it are 32 bit but I've always said that this isn't right.
Mario
> Kart : Super Circuit is practically the same as Super Mario Kart on the SNES....
> but it is still the best game out on GBA yet.
But what I am trying to point
> out is that GBA is not 32bit.
What's it matter what it is if it allows you to play fantastic games, far superior to those on the Gameboy Colour, on a handheld?
Hard? well think of Mario, u know Mario and Luigi, The good ole days where you played for ages trying to get Mario through the various levels in different worlds? Well it would be a dark place with no Mario, No Nintendo, No basis of that life that revelutionised gaming history. Just think that another company made a game on the same basis, But it would be called the wilson brothers, Ole Wilson and Dainty saving the princess from the evil Landrift. I mean c'mon life wouldnt be the same. Sonic, yes Sonic the hegehog, I bet that Nintendo gave Sega that idea, They based sonic on the same principles of mario.
So i come to my conclusion, If thier was no Nintendo would you be pleased you got wilson kart racing??? No, I just think that Nintendo was the base for most games of today, the revelution of games consoles and handhelds all over the world!!
Mario Kart : Super Circuit is practically the same as Super Mario Kart on the SNES.... but it is still the best game out on GBA yet.
But what I am trying to point out is that GBA is not 32bit.
Super Mario world will come in the form of Mario advance 2.
I hope they bring the SNES Zelda to GBA, never played it myself, but enough people tell me it was better than OOT.
You may say £30 a go, is a bit steep for a old megadrive/snes remake...probably is actually. Hurry up sony and make a handheld! Nintendo is making a killing in this market!
