Games that have a Dolby Dig or DTS soundtrack should be working fine but for DVD's you'll also need to enter the PS2 DVD menu ('select' on the PS2 controller/remote) and go to sound options - you'll see it from there.
It's highly unlikely that the optical cable is at fault unless you're unlucky enough to have picked up a dodgy one.
I bought the cheapest going (Gamester, 2m, £7.99 at EB) and it's been perfect. Let's face it - fibre optic cable is all basically the same.
Any one got any ideas?
I know my amp is fine as my standalone DVD works fine in both digital and DTS, the only difference is that my DVD player is conected via Coaxial and the PS2 is connected via optical.
I've got the input selected on the amp and turned on, on the PS2 and I do get suround sound.
