When i play dts dvds on my ps2 the sound is coming out as only prologic. i am using an optical lead and everything seems to be working but my home cinema cannot see a digital signal. I have enabled the digital output on the ps2 but still no lick. Any ideas anyone?

I have turned optical out off on both the DVD and PS2 menu, as I dont have 5.1 so the PS2 isnt conencted to the optical out. I may get a 5.1 system as then I can use it with my X-Box aswell.

Yep, adrian's bang on there.

Games that have a Dolby Dig or DTS soundtrack should be working fine but for DVD's you'll also need to enter the PS2 DVD menu ('select' on the PS2 controller/remote) and go to sound options - you'll see it from there.

It's highly unlikely that the optical cable is at fault unless you're unlucky enough to have picked up a dodgy one.

I bought the cheapest going (Gamester, 2m, £7.99 at EB) and it's been perfect. Let's face it - fibre optic cable is all basically the same.

Theres 2 Optical out places, in menus. The first is in the actually main PS2 menu and the other is in the DVD menu. If your only turning the one in the main menu of the PS2 it will only work with games. And if you only have the one turned on in the DVD menu then it will only work in the DVD. Hope this helps.

Good ideas but I've tried them all. I have disconnected the normal audio leads, I still get prologic sound through the optical so it is connected OK. I am out to buy a better cable, maybe the cheap one I got isn't good enough? I'll let you know what happens.

Right then. I've tried a DVD (the matrix) with is dolby digital, my amp doesn't change from Pro Logic to Digital either.

Any one got any ideas?

I know my amp is fine as my standalone DVD works fine in both digital and DTS, the only difference is that my DVD player is conected via Coaxial and the PS2 is connected via optical.

I've got the input selected on the amp and turned on, on the PS2 and I do get suround sound.

have you tried disconecting the normal audio? I've plugged my PS2 in via Optical and it works fine, although I haven't tried a DVD as of yet.
