If you don't really know what this topic is about, don't reply.

Hmmmm.

The last few stories have been... well, utter disasters. This is usually to do with something I've done. :0D

Sorry.

I really hope the next one we do will be a bit more popular... but it's pointless starting it unless we at least find out why people aren't writing.

Is it building up too quickly, too much to read? That could be sorted to limiting the posting... I suppose...

Not enough time?

Or, as I suspect, crap plots? :0D

Yeah, sorry once again about that. Getting up my own arss trying to keep the story as one long story... and forgetting that's it much more fun just to write a story. Limitations, you see. That's why it was so much fun the first stories, and crap now. My fault again, sorry. :0)

*cough*... err... not really getting anywhere with this.

Who wants to start the next story? I sure as hell don't. :0)

Okay, have to think carefully before I start here, or it'll end up being about 8 pages long.

Too much baggage. The first.. three stories (give or take) could be jumped into at any point, the plot was nice an simple, and the plot advanced by individuals adding encounters in their own way, with whatever took their fancy.

More recently, the plots are more complicated, harder to get into, and too limited - much of what can or can't happen is determined by what's happened in the last few posts.

To clarify my point...

Near the start of the blade runner story:
Group of foggers. Looking for people with N-chips in. Futuristic setting.

Near the start of the sniper story:
Group of foggers, each in different roles, some of which are actually connected to sniper's mind, others aren't. Each knows different things about the world they're in. Bill gates mind is around somewhere, and there are some mysterious baddies connected to sniper too. Sniper is a central character and the theme is a black and white detective film, featuring rather uninspiring and uninteresting locations in a typical city.

Okay, You get the idea.

I did try to get rid of Bill Gates, and I suggested the stories should start afresh each time, rather than continiuing to build up a hugely swollen eight-part plot, but Grix's influence was greater, so there ya go ;)

"I told you so"

Ha. I'm happy now.

I'll have a go at starting the next story, if nobody has any objections. Not sure when though, depends how busy I am.

What does everyone (or rather, everyone who's read this far) think about a 'second age of middle earth' setting? Orcs, Trolls, Elves, magic and stuff. That could be fun.

Yay or nay?

The reason I slowed down with my 'How Sniper...' writings was because I needed someone else to take the story along...

Being a Story newbie, I don't want to take the story off on some wild adventure fromwhich it won't recover. And regardless of how many times Grix has said 'It's Fine -Just write!' I still worry about writing 3 posts in succession etc.

I honestly think we can get 'How Sniper' back on track... It might take a while, and about 5 posters, but it's possible.

But then again, maybe starting a new topic is the answer... it'd give us a clean sheet, and we could even think about the direction beforehand...

Maybe we've done enough of this, 'Just write... and if you mess it up, it doesn't matter' idea! More forethought perhaps?

"Farce (Allo Allo springs to mind)" Heh. :0)

"Second World War - gritty realism"

Second story we did actually. Didn't get too far... but was pretty good. Tony named it as his favourite.

"50s Sci Fi films - dodgy set pieces and robots, overacting bad guys."

I'd love to do something like that.

"Star Trek"

Only watched the first ones.

"Dungeons and Dragons - but more farcial and less straight faced"

Yeah, we could get away with that.

"Superhero films"

I end up putting something odd in everyone anyway to do with superheros... :0) Not sure if it would work.

"Horror movies - the cheesier the better"

Yup.

"Christmas feelgood movies"

Wonderful Life has been spoofed about three times... once in a Sniper death. :0)

Why don't you start a story Pb? I don't think you've started one yet, have you?

Yeah, I prefer it that way too. :0)

Tried it with How Sniper... with a noir detective thing.

Can't really think of anything we haven't done at the moment...

You know me. Just as I get going on these forums, something as trivial as work or life gets in the way. This is especially true with the stories.

To be honest, I thought the medievil film plot one was going well until it was changed and started again, but then, that's me.

I think the secret of the first few was popular references as major factors in the stories. Star Wars, Bladerunner, Spagetti Western, these all followed similar plots to the films or genres they were based on. We need something similar to that, popular culture icons that everyone can identify.

or is it just me?!

Yeah, did in the end. Me, Game and Sheepy were writing it, and we kinda agreed not to post more than one a day.

Worked really well. Perhaps just testing that out didn't make the story a total disaster after all. :0)

Fog Stories: 5 mins 56 seconds so far.

I'm getting there... very, very slowly... :0D

The concept of 'How Sniper Got His Groove Back' was excellent.

Unfortunately I got too busy at work to keep up with reading it. Everytime I tried to catch up 3 or 4 lengthy new parts would be added.

It's a shame, as I like posting in them, but refuse to if I haven't read it all.

So yeah, only limit the posts in the thread!
