At least, that's the impression given by my local Game store.

I went in there today and bought Project IGI 2 for the PC, and Sly Raccoon for the PS2.

Some of you will know that I own all three consoles, and as such I always have a look at every section to see what's out. So, after picking up the games mentioned, I went down to the back of the store to check out the Xbox and Gamecube sections.

Looked in the Xbox section and almost picked up Dead to Rights, but didn't. Then looked at the Gamecube section, and all they have is the 'Top 10' games. That's it! Absolutely nothing else, in terms of software. Plenty of other Gamecube stuff - cables, controllers, carry-cases and so on.

It's odd, because when you hear the staff talking, they always seem to speak highly of Nintendo, and - if the store is mostly empty - they're always playing on the Gamecube demo pod, or a GBA. Today they were pushing pre-orders of the GBA-SP.

Strange, then, that they seem to have no desire to push the GC and its software. I know the games are a little slow arriving, but there are more than ten games available.

Log onto play.com - Rally Championship is for sale on the cheap there.

Oops..the staffies will probably delete this post...but I'll make it up to them by pre-ordering a GBA SP in 10 days...

I went into my local GAME to look for Rally Championship last-week, and saw EXACTLY the same thing!

There was their own "Top 10" chart of GameCube games which clearly didn't have anything to do any of the REAL charts, and their were all those same games, along with perhaps one-or-two others - like Men in Black 2 and Rayman - next to it. But they did have some console bundles, and there was a whole stand about pre-ordering Resident Evil Zero.

The PS2 had tonnes of stuff though, and the X-Box had quite a few of its "decent" titles also. And even the small GBA shelf had some of its better games on it! But not GameCubes'.

And I didn't find a copy of Rally Championship, either.
I even looked in Virgin and SR after, but still nothing!
And when I went into Virgin, it was a pretty similar story, regardig the games on-offer, and that. But they didn't even have their GameCube pod switched on! And there was no sign on it saying it was broken or nothing...

This is discrimination!!

Although I would normally buy from SR, and other certain retailers are doing deals, I managed to get Star Wars Bounty Hunter for less than £25 at the four lettered videogames retailers...

...I don't know who they were price matching, and I don't care, I still got a brand new game for a very good price :)

My local game is:

Left: PS2 up about 3/4 of the way down the shop, then Xbox.

Right: PC up to about halfway, then PSone, then GBA.

Back: Gamecube

In the middle are various shelf units, but these are mostly magazines, DVDs, pre-owned stuff and PC peripherals/console cables etc.

Unfortunatley, here in Snore-thampton (sorry, Northampton...) Game is the only local shop with any serious selection of software!

Other stores are cheaper, but don't always have the things you're after.

Usually I would order from SR or Play, but that means using a credit card - and although they are cheaper, using my credit cards is something which I'm trying NOT to do at the moment.

I don't know why people buy from GAME it's a right rip off. Stick to your local shops, much better.

Although GAME always seem to have lots of add ons, carry cases, memory cards and the like, which is good.

Indeed, GAME allways situate the Gamecube and Gameboy stuff at the back of the store, Xbox at the front, and PS2 is in the middle, with PC in between Nintendo and Sony! Pfft, they must really dislike Nintendo. That said, the staff in my local-ist GAME allways have Gamecube footage/games/demos running on the TVs in the store. Maybe its the owners that have lost faith in Nintendo!

Yes, GAME are bad, but under there high prices and flashy looking store, they are completely stupid! They give you FREE rentals.

Their 10 Day Guarentee has been oh-so useful to me in the past, and will be in the future. You can try pot luck, and risk it with a game you might not like only to return it a few days later. Or you can find a game you do like, play it, order it from SR for a much better value price, and return the goods you supposedly "bought" to GAME.

It's simple, practical and damn right cheap-ass, and thats why i use it!!! Thanks GAME, for being so damn stupid!
