Hi,
please enlighten me if you can,

1. Do any types of AMD Athlons work with SDRAM, if so, which ones.

2. Im getting a Maxtor D740X ATA133, but my mobo only has an ATA100 controller thing (whatever), I presume it will still work, only at a maximum of 100mbs, but will this create a data bottleneck if the transfer rat starts peaking over 100mbs?

3. How much more faster and more powerful is the average
GF3 Ti200 from the GF2 Ti, is it worth the extra money?

Thanks.

Hey, there this weird thing i found out.
The Geforce 3 runs at faster speeds than the GF3 Ti200,
so the GF3 should be faster right, because they are basically the same board. But at the Hall of Fame, GamersHQ at Madonion.com, the GF3Ti200 (3rd) is shown as faster than the GF3 (4th). Whats the deal with this?

Memory
1. Three 168-pin DIMM sockets support PC100/PC133 SDRAM module
2. Supports up to 1.5 GB MAX. (8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512MB SDRAM)

There ya go.

Thanks Guys, the drive is intended to replace my ageing
6GB UDMA33 from the medieval period (1998.

My mobo is an Abit KT7A (non-raid), does this support SDRAM with an Athlon XP?

It's cheaper than most other brands, partly because it's not a very well known name, but in terms of actual performance you wont find a noticeable drop compared with another name, say Asus or Leadtek. They're all based around the say core, and most even use the same PCB layout..you might find that it has fewer ramsinks or no thermal adhesive on the heatsink, but that wont matter unless you plan to overclock it.

Does the Athlon XP work with normal SDRAM?

Yes, as long as the motherboard supports it.

Lastly, i'm not

Is the new drive to replace the old one, or just run alongside it? If you intend to replace your old drive, just set the new one as slave with the jumper on the back and then boot the pc and copy the data over.

Thanks.

SDRAM will work with XPs if your mobo supports it, which it may not.

HDD install instructions:

Step 1 - Mount it inside your PC

Step 2 - Setting the jumpers. Slave HDDs generally don't work very well, especially if they're slave to another HDD. I recommend setting your new HDD as secondary master, and whatever WAS secondary master (probably your CD-ROM) should be set to secondary slave.

Step 3 - Power up your PC. It should detect it automatically and show up as D:\ on Windows. Hoever, you might want to run fdisk (MS-DOS prompt) and reformat it into FAT32.

ATA 133 hard drive will work fine on your pc but you can buy an ATA 133 adapter card for about £35, you will not see much differance in performance if you mess with it.

Geforce 3 ti2000 WOW nice card BUY ONE i made a test system with this card an athlon 1800 xp 256 mb ddr (Double Data Rate) sdram pc2100, ibm 30gb 75 gxp ata 100 hard drive and ran 3dmark2001 and got a wicked result of 10098 which compared to a geforce 2 mx 400 64mb (not ti2000 but not far from it), got 3280, work it out.

Your system is only going to use swap if it needs it. If it needs it and there's none there it crashes, plain and simple.
