Dreamweaver 4
This programme is the ultimate in quality web design. I now know what I was missing when I was using Frontpage 2000! The layout is really sleek and when you publish it, it has a very professional look to it, thanks to the flash objects, such as text. You can do as Mr. Nice Guy did and write the HTML in Wordpad and insert it into Dreamweaver.
Flash 5
Dreamweaver really covers this in basics, such as text, but Flash 5 allows you to make more complex elements, such as animations and movies. I tried to make a movie, but found it insatiabally difficult - this could be that I haven't really explored it but it's worth the dosh. You can make very good promos.
Adobe Photoshop 6
This has been named the best photo editor in the world and it is certainly great. I only got it the other day, but the text looks very professional and sleek. There are so many buttons that it will take ours to discover the ins and outs of this application. At £300, it's not the cheapest of software, but the best.
Fireworks 4
Made by the Macromedia team (Flash, Dreamweaver), you can expect this to be of a high standard. Fireworks is a programme that lets you create flash elements, such as banners etc. This programme is used by the professionals and so is a good buy. I suggest getting a trial version first, as the interface can be a little hard to digest on first sitting.
If you have these 4 programmes, you can create an excellent website! Good luck!
