> Me and the CD version - heh, 192kbps is actually above cd quality, 128 is cd ++ Cd quality isn't the best, it's recorded at 44.1khz, the best is 96khz me thinks, but only if you've got a v good cpu on your pc, e.g. a Mac.
yeah, you can get some nice MIDI stuff, we've got a synth at college that allows you to do anything, and it's old, it's really flexible, lets you make the instrument (e.g. how long the instrument is, how many frets is has...etc) can't remeber the full name but it was a Roland something, it was good, I remeber trying a 200ft long glass harmonica, crap sound but it was funny at the time.
yeah MIDI's changed a lot, really depends on what you have, if you have a bad range of midi instruments, put a live/real instrument in and the whole track can sound very good, most music these days, wether it's rap, house or rock, it's surprising that most of them use midi.

it really depends on what your happy with, if you just want it for music, something to keep you company, then buy a walman or a cheap hi-fi from Dixons, maybe a 3cd changer....oooohh,
if you've got loads of money and looove music, buy a seperate rack system.
if your a looney but love stuff you can mess around with, buy some effects machines and some synths and make your own music.
I personally don't care about speakers, but I have 6 playing at anyone time in my room.
unless you want the best don't buy the best.
yeah your right about MP3s, considering their free it's good + it's a better way of putting audio onto flash intros n stuff, I don't think viewer's would be pleased about downloading a 1min .wav :)
did a test on that (very simple) just saved a 1.55min file as 3 types (just for intrest):
1 (.wav) 19mb
2 (.mp3) just under 1mb (945kb methinks)
3 (.rm) 248kb not sure how accurate these are, i deleted the files, but obviously you'd need to think about what the user's can listen to.....
anyway, MP3s are great!
