I was walking through town, I could afford it, a shop which I shall refrain from naming had some in stock at the stupidly cheap price, and nobody would have a go at me for buying one.

Then I realised I'd never play on it and that I didn't actually want one that much.

Shame.

This console has the most aerodynamic discs of any next-gen machine.

Didn't think it came with one. Knew they existed though.

Still, the whole realisation that I didn't really want one negated the entire problem.

I nearly bought a Gamecube yesterday.

Then I noticed that my TV lacks both Scart and RGB connections.

Then the rugby was on, and I sat down to watch that.

Finally, after all this, I decided I didn't really want one.

Might go and buy myself a new Graphics card at 3 times the price.

If you stand on it you'll be four inches taller.
Makes a nice door stop.
Stick plastic army men on the lid, open it and hurl them to a firey death..or something.

Or don't buy one cos' you'll never play on it and spend the money on something you know you'll use.

Erm.. there isn't too much on offer if you're going for a PC style of game, unless you like the depth that most computer RPGs manage to boast. That way, you've got games like Zelda, Jedi Knight II, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil with involving and gripping plots, plus lots of freedom and innovation (such as light sabres in Jedi Knight II).

The real thing the GameCube does best, is be original. There's Pikmin, an excellent real-time strategy game. Luigi's Mansion - short, but very sweet in it's ghost catching glory, not to mention others such as Doshin The Giant, Starfox Adventures and Super Monkey Ball. Then there's multiplayer games such as Mario Party 4, Super Smash Bros. Melee and others.

So all in all, the 'Cube is a fresh and original gaming experience that you won't find anywhere else. Chances are you'll love some games, and hate others as each one is just as different as the last - they're all fun in their various ways. On top of that, the console's really cheap, there's a fantastic controller and a promising online service.

So there you go. Needless to say, it's the best console - but if you're not sure, it might be best to stay a PC gamer and possibly buy a GBA SP.
