Some may remember my hassle with Ealing Council and their ticketing of my car repeatedly.
Short version is this:
They ticketed me for parking. It was a Saturday and regulations do not apply. I told them and they ignored it, sending threats of legal action.
They did it again 2 months later and I told them where to insert their tickets.
It was only after I received a legal notice to appear in court that it turns out that section of road doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction – it belongs to Harrow.
I then get ticketed again.
Turns out, after asking around, that they have known about this road not being theirs for almost 3 years. Yet they have still ticketed and claimed monies owed, operating in common knowledge that the road is not their responsibility.
They have claimed a lot of money (hundreds of thousands of pounds) over the past years from people unaware.
They then ticketed me again – this time in my mum’s car.
She writes and complains and they send her a cheque for £100 to apologise for sending bailiffs round to claim for a debt illegally and fraudulently issued.
I have spent months chasing this, never once have I been in the wrong.
Today the guy in charge emails me to say they’re sending me £25 and “sorry”.
This doesn’t mention anything about me wasting months on phone calls, receiving notification to appear in court, threats of bailiff action and so on.
Do I take this £25 and let it go, or do I get involved with MPs, the council select committee and newspapers that might take an interest in Borough Councils illegally fining motorists when the dept is fully aware it is not their right to do so?
Give me some advice people.
I'm asking myself that, and I think that I can.
You lot know what I'm like.
The thing is, it's not even about getting money from them.
I have been ignored for almost a year and have recieved numerous threats of legal action and appearances in court which I have refused to attend.
If they had just said sorry at the 1st ticket then cool.
But they ignored me and threated Bailiff action.
I've been writing to the guy in charge and being constantly ignored by them, it's a lack of respect.
And, having taken legal advice, this council have acted illegally and fraudalently claimed monies from motorists for a period of over 3 years.
But it boils down to one thing:
Respect.
A simple apology would have been enough, but at no point have they done so.
And they have ignored repeated emails and phone calls.
Imagine Special Reserve sending someone a PC without them asking, then demanding payment for it, and when the person tries to explain and say "Hang on a minute", you refuse to speak to that person and keep sending bailiffs round for the money.
Eventually that person says "Well you can ---- off then, come and get it if you think you can" ,and you say "yeah sorry, have £25 and please go away now"
You guys would never do that.
I should never have had that 1st ticket, they should have apologised there and then.
They didnt and ticketed me another 3 times, knowing that wasn't their road.
I AM listening to your advice guys, but (knowing my penchant for being difficult) I have done nothing wrong whatsoever and have discovered illegal and fraudalent activity by a council.
This is like Log In The Creek - but with less Hauser'father
You'll probably find that it's just a scam to raise party funds for the Tories anyway and that your MP is actually the ringleader.
Maybe.
