Some may remember my hassle with Ealing Council and their ticketing of my car repeatedly.
Short version is this:
They ticketed me for parking. It was a Saturday and regulations do not apply. I told them and they ignored it, sending threats of legal action.
They did it again 2 months later and I told them where to insert their tickets.
It was only after I received a legal notice to appear in court that it turns out that section of road doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction – it belongs to Harrow.
I then get ticketed again.
Turns out, after asking around, that they have known about this road not being theirs for almost 3 years. Yet they have still ticketed and claimed monies owed, operating in common knowledge that the road is not their responsibility.
They have claimed a lot of money (hundreds of thousands of pounds) over the past years from people unaware.
They then ticketed me again – this time in my mum’s car.
She writes and complains and they send her a cheque for £100 to apologise for sending bailiffs round to claim for a debt illegally and fraudulently issued.
I have spent months chasing this, never once have I been in the wrong.
Today the guy in charge emails me to say they’re sending me £25 and “sorry”.
This doesn’t mention anything about me wasting months on phone calls, receiving notification to appear in court, threats of bailiff action and so on.
Do I take this £25 and let it go, or do I get involved with MPs, the council select committee and newspapers that might take an interest in Borough Councils illegally fining motorists when the dept is fully aware it is not their right to do so?
Give me some advice people.
They threatened you with legal action, which they had no right, or responsibility to do. They caused you emotional and physical stress, and caused you to go out of your way to tell them to beggar off. They badgered you and basically intruded on your basic human rights.......
Get them all :D
Sod it, if you not for yourself, do it for other motorists who have been conned out of money by these fraudsters. The Council they may be, but they aren't any different from a thief and con artist when it comes down to it.
Oh and like Wookiee says, give the money to Charidee.
bleed the bast**** dry
Swing an axe at their metaphorical legs and watch them tumble.
Have you the time to visit your local MP in his / her surgery hours? If not, write said MP a letter, explaining everything, (especially the illegal ticketing of cars under knowledge that it wasn't their road)...
Send a carbon copy of that same letter to the council, and your local paper.
If you send one letter in isolation, it might get forgotten, if you send multiple letters, so that everybody knows that other people know what has been happening, things are more likely to happen. MP will get worried 'cos the local rag will have wind of it, the Council will worry 'cos the MP (and the local rag!) have details of what has been going on.
I dig that you have put posters up warning other motorists. Cool. Fight the Power!
Having a big gay gold name hasn't change meh.
I shall grit my teeth, brace my girdle and wade in.
Damn you Ealing Council, bring it on
