In this topic I will tell you a little of each console mentioned above.
The mastersystem I was a good little console in it's time it had some great games out for it but sadly most folk didn't like the mastersystem I.
Why could this be?
Well for a start Sega was already starting to make it' next console the mastersystem II. Therefore owners were getting rid of there trusty 'ol' mastersystem I and making way for the next generation of consoles( hrmm) ok maybe not exactly the next generation of consoles but it's a start!
The mastersystem I was a bit on the large side and the graphics weren't that good. But the games were. I don't have a mastersystem I so a can't say anything about the games but from what I do know the games were almost as good as the mastersystem II, but not quite.
The mastersystem II however is probably one of Sega's best achievements with the exception of one or two other consoles like the Saturn and the megadrive.
The mastersystem II is a nice little console with some great games like Batman, Hangon, Golden axe, Indiana Jones and the last crusade the list could go on forever.
One of the best games is Sonic the Hedgehog, Wow! What a game.
The Sonic series is enough to put a smile on anybody's face, the last level in sonic 2 is a real stinker!
The coins system has always been a part of the sonic series and it worked out well because for every 100 coins you collect you earned another life.
But the mastersystem II wasn't to last long as there was another console on it's way the Sega Saturn!
The Sega Saturn has a powerful processor, whether it's a 12 or a 16 bit one I'm not sure but the Saturn had the ability to produce some pretty stunning graphics. More so than it's predecessors simply because it's got better graphics good games out for it and some nice little extras.
One of my favourite games on the Saturn was Sega rally; boy oh boy this was a cool game! Some of the crashes you could do were pretty awesome as well. I sat playing this game for hours when I discovered a friend had it.
But alas Sega had something else up their sleeves something that they would regret forever and y'kmow what that is don't you?
The Sega Dreamcast by Sega's definition is their best achievement. Not so the Dreamcast is a almost complete failure!
So what went wrong?
Sure the Dreamcast had the potential to be a brilliant console, but sadly it's not.
Fact 1: It had the ability for online gaming which offer's is huge for the gaming industry and the Dreamcast was the first to use the internet in a games console. So that's not it!
Fact 2: The graphics are excellent, so it did them some favours and they were able to make some good games like The Worlds Scariest Police Chases! But maybe they just didn't make enough good games!
Fact 3: The controllers seem to have been made for people with bigger hands. The visual memory unit was a nice touch but I think it spoiled the fact that it's a good controller!
So what's the Dreamcast Rolled over on it's back and died? Well it's another one of those thing that us humans call "A mystery of gaming"
Sega was a great company but sadly it didn't put in enough of an effort to make a good console, which is a real shame because Sega can make good consoles when they want to.
So this bring an end to another sad story that will be told over and over again in the History of gaming.
Thanks for reading!
One is like an N64 joypad, around the same size too, but with a lead for your tv and packed with around 14 classic sega games like Sonic and Columns built in. It doesn't let you play other games and be warned that the included games are only like shortened versions of their originals, but for a portable gaming unit to plug in to someone's tv, not worrying about taking a games collection with you, it's pretty smart.
The other is a small remake of the Megadrive, with a nice shapely body and it works just like the original. Nice.
Well I din't have any information to go on so I just wrote what I knew about the certain consoles.
He refered to the Megadrive as the Master System 2.
There was the original Master System, the Master System 2 which was the same machine but with better casing and an inbuilt game (Alex Kid, and later on, Sonic the Hedgehog).
What Doughnut called the Master System 2 was the Mega Drive (and there was a Mega Drive 2 released later on...)
Hang On was originally a card game. Card games were also only £14.99, where cartridge games usually cost £24.99.
The SMS3, in case you haven't heard of it, was released in Brazil, because the SMS was still hugely popular over there a few years ago. I'm not quite sure about the state of console gaming in South America at the moment though, don't know if they've got Megadrives yet, or if they skipped straight to Playstation 2's. That would be quite a shock to the system!
> Shigsy not taking over SEGA then Doughnut Monster?
Oh if only he did eh?
> SEGA advertised the Dreamcast in ads at Cimenas.
For a short time only, with a bizarre ad that had no relation to the game.
They put pods in every GAME
> shop nationwide.
Yes, and in HMV, this probably sold lots of DCs too.
They sponsored three football teams - one in England, France
> & Spain.
Didn't really do too much when you consider that the playstation logo was on all the side hoardings.
They promoted the DC at rock festivals and other events where the

Mostly to little avail.
People say they got the marketing wrong, but the
> fact is the PSone had captured the market so completely that no-one was
> listening and no-one cared.
They didn't capture the newspapers or do many TV ads (until later on) and this is really where Sony beat them on advertising.
To say SEGA messed up the marketing of the
> Dreamcast is a myth.
No, it's just a small part of where the Dreamcast failed to sell as many units as the PSX and fail to be as popular as the PS2. While the Dreamcast was indeed pretty popular by Sega's standards of console sales, the Playstation was marketed in a different way, had more 3rd party support and was the 'badge' to be seen with. Sony didn't market it just as a games console, it was a badge, in a similar way to owning Nike trainers.
I'm not saying the DC was a failure either, as I said, it sold loads and there are plenty of happy people out there still playing all the decent DC games (which still add up to more than the PS2 currently has, although that's changing) but Sega just couldn't compete in the badging of their console, or didn't want to.
