Fact1: what the ps2 has that the ps1 doesn’t.
The ps2 has a hell of a lot more. For one it has Internet capabilities, which allows online gaming.
The Internet is going to be huge for Multi-player gaming.
Sony decided to take advantage of that fact, and so they should ‘cos if they want to compete with the GameCube and the Xbox when they come out or they’ll be left in the gutter to die!
The over-all gameplay!
I’m telling you the overall gameplay is something special, especially with GTA3 that’s on sale now, boy what a cracker of a game.
I think we’ll be in for a rare treat with this awesome console and who knows rare themselves might even make a game, I don’t know about you but I’m certainly looking forward to rare making a ps2 game. If that doesn’t wet your appetites I don’t know what will.
Fact 2: Graphics!
With the ps2’s huge capability’s we should see some damn good games in months or years to come.
The graphics in GTA3 really shows of the ps2’s awesome power. There’s already been some good looking originals that have been confirmed for release such as project Y. I haven’t heard much about project Y but it sure looks awesome so far.
Controls: Sony decided to stick to the same style of controllers as the ps1. But the controls are difficult if you’ve been glued to a n64 for so long, but if you previously had a ps1 then you’re ok, but otherwise it’ll be a new challenge for you.
Fact 3: The ps2 is also capable of playing dvd’s and what’s more the quality doesn’t suffer because it plays games as well, so Lights Camera Action!
Will Sony make any consoles in the future?
Who knows, with shigsy recently taking over Sony they might already be working on another console.
If they do I’m sure it’ll be just as good as their other consoles.
What features might it have?
Probably a modem of some sort for online gaming. It seems as if a modem comes as standard with consoles these days.
I’d imagine it would also use CD’s as most consoles do nowadays.
It might even have some new features that we haven’t seen in a console yet.
But I’m afraid my merry gamers that we’ll have to wait and find out.
Thanks for reading!

Hopefully it will, as its certainly capable, but the internet is still up in the air, and so nothin is certain when it comes to online PS2s.

With the amount of sales already, I don`t think its going to be online play that will even need to save them, as its no longer necessary. Sony have done enough with the hype and games themselves to be completely satisfied as they are.

There are certainly some great games out there, but there also lots of rubbish ones. The "overall great gameplay" is often less noticeable when there are hopeless title bringing the average down.

Rare make a game for PS2? I`m 99.9% certain that`ll never happen. I could understand if a third party supporter of Nintendo switched sides, but as Rare are second party, I don`t think that`ll ever happen.
I don’t know about

To be honest I couldn`t care less if they do. Free Radical, who broke away from Rare have made a brilliant multiplayer experience with TimeSplitters, and it seems likely that the sequel will contain not only the multiplayer brilliance, but the other elements of an FPS that make the whole package a great game. The PS2 no longer needs Rare, as they`d offer very little new input.

"Fact" and "should" are a slight contradiction here. The games already look great - fact. The games will look amazing in the future - theory.
>The graphics in GTA3 really shows of the ps2’s awesome power.
It looks alright, but if you want to talk about showing off graphical power, then you want to mention Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Gran Turismo 3.
There’s

Project Y = Jak and Daxter does it not? As in... the game released last Friday.

New challenge? A couple of hours in, and you`ll appreciate how good the Sony controllers are.
Fact 3: The ps2 is also capable of playing

The DVD player has received the most criticism. Lip sync and green screen in particular. Additional software has solved this problem, but I guess it really shouldn`t have happened in the first place.
>Will Sony make any consoles in the future?
Given all the rumours of PS3 that have been flying around for about a year now, I`m guessing the answer is obvious.
Who

As I`ve read the other replies and found out why you wrote this, I guess there is no reason to say "Thats a load of rubbish".

Were Shigsy to take over, virtually every game under Sony`s control would be Mario/Jak and Daxter related. The third party support would still produce non-kiddy stuff, but everytime you see produced by Sony, you know you should be giving the controller to your kids. Better off without him.

Shock.... I had to go and check the date on your original post when I saw this. I wondered if you were talking about the possibility of the PS2. :-)
>I’d imagine it would also use CD’s as most consoles do nowadays.
Taking a step back in time ain`t it? They`re already on DVDs, and the GC is using something else... (Fill in the blank Grix, Gronti etc...) though I can`t remember what it is.
>It might even have some new features that we haven’t seen in a console yet.
You think?
>But I’m afraid my merry gamers that we’ll have to wait and find out.
Erm.. yes.
Apart from those that have got GC's or XBox's imported becuase they can afford it, as well as importing games from across the Atlantic, what is everyone going to do.
Stop moaning about it being "under-powered" when there is nothing commercailly available to push it apart from a decent PC. The XBox won't be here till March, and the GC till God knows when and thats time enough for Nintendo and Microsoft to put a foot wrong.
The GC will be cheap, but because of the perception of Nintendo making primarily kiddies games it will push away some of the teen market, something that will be crucial for any console to suceed.
The XBox will be expensive, however a complete all-in-one unit but risks being shunned by both the console community, because of its striking resemblences to a PC, as well as the PC community, as it may be too much of a console.
Then there's the PS2. Its out now, reasonably priced, has great games out for it now like GT3, GTA3, Tony Hawks 3etc. as well as the expansion possibilities that both of the above have.
The PS2 certainly has the potential to do well, but if punters get drawn in by the novelty of having the newest console or the sheer hype stirred up by Microsoft (£500 Million spent by MS alone), then the PS2 may be overshadowed unfairly because of hype.
Still, if Sony loses the court case about the "Messiah" mod-chip, then there may be a flood of copied games, making the PS2 cheaper and more accessible than it already it is.
Ummm sorry I didn't realise that that topic about Shigsy taking over sony was a spoof.
Had you kept this to yourself, you may have got away with people thinking you were taking the p*ss. Now you've done it though!

I think he's talking about my spoof topic I wrote on Chat a few weeks back. When Shiggsy invaded Sony offices and made them sell Sony for really cheap, and he scared them all off with his bright colours. :D
