The ps1 has had some great releases such as Driver, crash bandicoot and Metal Gear solid but now it’s time for Sony to take a step up in Video game land. What’s this step up in the video game land I hear you say? It’s the ps2 of course.

Fact1: what the ps2 has that the ps1 doesn’t.

The ps2 has a hell of a lot more. For one it has Internet capabilities, which allows online gaming.
The Internet is going to be huge for Multi-player gaming.
Sony decided to take advantage of that fact, and so they should ‘cos if they want to compete with the GameCube and the Xbox when they come out or they’ll be left in the gutter to die!

The over-all gameplay!

I’m telling you the overall gameplay is something special, especially with GTA3 that’s on sale now, boy what a cracker of a game.
I think we’ll be in for a rare treat with this awesome console and who knows rare themselves might even make a game, I don’t know about you but I’m certainly looking forward to rare making a ps2 game. If that doesn’t wet your appetites I don’t know what will.

Fact 2: Graphics!

With the ps2’s huge capability’s we should see some damn good games in months or years to come.

The graphics in GTA3 really shows of the ps2’s awesome power. There’s already been some good looking originals that have been confirmed for release such as project Y. I haven’t heard much about project Y but it sure looks awesome so far.

Controls: Sony decided to stick to the same style of controllers as the ps1. But the controls are difficult if you’ve been glued to a n64 for so long, but if you previously had a ps1 then you’re ok, but otherwise it’ll be a new challenge for you.

Fact 3: The ps2 is also capable of playing dvd’s and what’s more the quality doesn’t suffer because it plays games as well, so Lights Camera Action!

Will Sony make any consoles in the future?

Who knows, with shigsy recently taking over Sony they might already be working on another console.
If they do I’m sure it’ll be just as good as their other consoles.

What features might it have?

Probably a modem of some sort for online gaming. It seems as if a modem comes as standard with consoles these days.
I’d imagine it would also use CD’s as most consoles do nowadays.
It might even have some new features that we haven’t seen in a console yet.

But I’m afraid my merry gamers that we’ll have to wait and find out.

Thanks for reading!

Yes I agree with ssxpro!

I think the N64 controllers one of the best made controllers I've ever seen.

I guess its because your thumb has to go further to b than a if b is to the left of a. So in terms of distance, they are in sequence.

It doesn't help that they put 'A' to the

WHat sense did that make? It's just the same on the NES, and

Any reason for this? Anyone know?

I guess they thought that it would be easier to get at.

Actually the A is to the left of B

Very true. Do you think that enough has been done yet, or will it take a few more million units?

It is true that they would bring some great FPS experience to the mix, but one thing Sony has become famous for is endless titles that look the same. I`m quite happy with TimeSplitters 2 on its own, rather than it becoming "one of those titles" and falling into the background with all the rest of them.

I`ve never found that as I started with a PSone controller, and tried the N64 one afterwards. However, I`m the same as you when its the N64 controller. I never know which is a or b. I guess its just down to what you are used to.

:-) It is indeed. I would say the same thing about the N64 controller, and I`m sure it is when you get used to it, but it seems I can never get the hang of something so unsymmetrical.

There's not a great deal of money in online gaming, Sony will be pleased to have gotten so far without cries for an online network now! I can't see anyone paying out monthly fees to play a game they've already shelled out £40 for, Sony, and the rest will want to ensure that there's a decent system in place that means they don't loose money over it, and don't want the gamers to feel ripped off.

To be honest I couldn`t care less if they do. Free Radical, who

I don't know, surely any new developers would be welcomed, especially one of Rare's calibre? Those that went on to form Free Radical were only a small part, and there's plently more that Rare could offer, which no doubt we'll see over the coming years. I certailny wouldn't want to turn any developers away if I was making a console.

Once you remember which one is triangle, square, etc. I still have to look down every time someone says "Press triangle!" by which time it's too late! But yes, it is a rather comfortable controller.
