We’ve heard about the n64, the ps1, the ps2, the GBA and even the GameCube but what about the Mastersystem two or the Dreamcast, which is very rarely spoken about. The Mastersystem which was a good little console in its days but was over taken by the next generation of consoles

When the Nintendo 64 was launched in January 1996 I was still playing my humble old master system II, which up until the N64 came out I thought was the bees knees. But then I realised that if I wanted the latest in console technology I needed to do away with the humble old master system and get a N64, which I got one year for Xmas, I was really pleased with it.

I loved my Mastersystem II I played it all the time, the variety of games that the Mastersystem had was unbelievable. The graphics on it were good for a small console. The gameplay was a bit tedious but never the less it was good fun my favourite game was California Games in which there was a variety of sports to choose from and play such as surfing, skating and skateboarding in all of which you had to get a high score in order to win.
The handsets and the controls are a bit clumsy and sometimes a bit slow but they were easy enough to get the hang of.

I had great fun with this console but I got detached from it when I got my N64.I kind of regretted it because Sega had made a fine console but was soon to be left to rot in a gutter. Which is a very sad ending indeed especially for such a good little console but all good things must come to an end, which Sega were soon to find out when they launches their masterpiece they called the Sega Dreamcast

All was quiet in the Sega head quarters until one day the SEGA Dreamcast was born,
This is the very first console to have Internet facilities on it enabling for online gaming, which is a huge step for the gaming industry. The graphics are brilliant the gameplay in most games are good but the handsets were just too big and bulky.
About a year after Sega made their console it was announced that the production of Dreamcast Consoles and the games were to stop due to lack of sales. Another sad ending for poor Sega, they have had a rough ride haven’t they.

Sega recently announced that due to popular demand they were going to restart the production of a few Consoles, but sadly not games. I don’t think Sega could afford to make another console especially after these hard times they’ve been through.
There could be a small amount of hope left for the Dreamcast due to the announcement, but will it be enough?
We’ll just have to sit tight ‘cos who knows what the future of gaming holds in store for us.

If you could rate the MasterSystem2 in the top console table, where would you put it?

The Dreamcast had some good titles that can stand proud by themselves, but the weight of the Playstation was too great. So do you think there'll be a new SEGA console in the future DMonster? I don't believe there hardware days are over, do you? How do you think the Master System compared to the NES?
