So Mario Kart aint online? Good. If I can play offline with reasonably intelligent bots then its better than some annoying idiot who types dumb messages to you while you're vainly trying to play with heavy lag and you're only playing as you forked out a huge amount to play online. Morons.
I am just laughing at the poor fools who have bought a modem expecting loads of AAA titles from Nintendo to have online support. hohoho. Keep shoddy PSO and any dull 3rd party squat that has some cheesy online features.
When Nintendo wants to it will go online. It is not stopping itself from going online.. it has the networks, the modems.. It seems its the only company to realise: that online may be the future, according to some.. but the future is not now.
But the only reason I actually want to go online with PSO, it doesn't actually need a direct link to the GameCube, what am I talking about? The sub-quests that can be downloaded. They just seem so promising and, without them, I really couldn't see myself playing the game for very long. I love long, with a lot of variation and always something new to challenge me, hopefully this is what PSO will turn out being like.
But a direct link to the GameCube isn't actually needed. Why not get an adaptor, which holds a Memory card, the link it up to the internet on your computer. A simple PSO website could easily be set up and, without the extra cost, weapons, quests or whatever else could be downloaded. This could work, most probably much better than going online, it's too complicated for anyone who simply wants a console, even though for actual online fighting with other players would be impossible.
You really wonder if Nintendo thought this up right, don't you?
Never done it on my PC, never intend to on my Gamecube.
I want a new Phantasy Star game without this poncey online let's all be friends and go on an adventure together crap.
The main reason that online gaming is so poor, is that you can play other real people, and the majority of other people have c***-breath.
Nintendo offline = Quality Nintendo magic with good frame rates, no annoying disconnections, one off payment for game, no rubbis players getting in your way.
Just about covers it I think.
The great thing about playing on consoles is it's simple, no keyboard, no mouse, just a controller, a screen and you. Perfect in my eyes. When you try to incorperate thing like online access for most, it'll go wrong. I'm being forced to buy a BB Adaptor because of PSO and I may get a keyboard too. May seem stupid that i'm paying out over £60 just to get the most out of a game, but then I know if extras can be downloaded or whether there are some good online options, I'll be pretty much sorted, won't I?
Hopefully, because there aren't any online games coming out soon, PSO will keep me occupied for some time; downloadable quests, guilds and buying weapons does seem extremely fun and, effectively, if the servers don't slowly disappear, this could last forever. While online games may be complicated and I think we'd be much better off without them, if the only way to get the best out of games is to bring them online, why not? That's what I say.
But as for Nintendo saying that Mario Kart GC won't go online, I'm not at all suprised. There's no place for it in the online world, while thing like downloadable tracks and characters would be a purely genius idea, racing against online foes just seems pointless when you get real friends to come round, then you could actually laugh in their faces, instead of typing 'Hahahaha! u suk i beet u!'. The moronic world of online would most probably end up like that someday...
What I'm wondering about is how a console like the Phantom (If it is real at all) is going to work; 1000's games? I don't really think so. The idea of buying is game issimply going into a shop, looking around, finding what you want, then buying it. Not getting connected to the internet, which, for some people, could take quite some time, then searching through a database of possibly millions of games, just waiting to be downloaded. Also, I'm betting you'd need to use a credit card to actually get the games, most gamers won't have credit cards and, for most, it would be a big disappointment.
But really, whether you're against online gaming or not, it can't really be avoided, can it?
>I doubt it will last till the end of the year.
It will last unfortunately, as Microsoft will just pump mor money into it.. Great. >:@
played halo online and it was just
> boring,.
Right................
Unless you used Gamespy thingy.......?
I doubt it.
Play online if you want, but its good that its not seen as the future of the company.
Yet. Nice and open. But if they do see it as the future, they'll have to peg it to catch up.
